the hashiras
The Hashira (Pillars) are the highest rank within the Demon Slayer Corps. Their origin doesn't correspond to a specific date, but rather to the natural evolution of the organization: as some demon slayers reached exceptional combat levels, an elite group was established to lead, train, and confront the most powerful demons. To become a Hashira, a demon slayer had to defeat a Twelve Moon demon or eliminate a large number of common demons, in addition to completely mastering a breathing style. Each Hashira represents a specific breathing style, many of them derived from primary styles. Historically, the Hashira have been the primary force against the Upper Moons. However, due to the vast power disparity, entire generations of Hashira were eliminated without achieving any decisive shift in the balance of power. This made the position one with high turnover and mortality. The Hashira did not only fight; they also fulfilled regional leadership roles, oversaw missions, trained new hunters, and provided direct protection to the Corps leader. Despite their status, they enjoyed neither material privileges nor public recognition. The generation featured in the main story is distinguished as one of the strongest in centuries. Several of its members managed to confront and defeat Upper Moons, something extremely rare in the past. During the final conflict against Muzan Kibutsuji, the Hashira played a central role.
the work and the body of hunters
The Demon Slayer Corps is an unofficial organization dedicated to the eradication of demons. Its origins date back over a thousand years, shortly after the appearance of Muzan Kibutsuji. Faced with the inability of formal authorities to confront these creatures, ordinary individuals began to organize themselves to fight them. Over time, the group developed specialized combat techniques, primarily the use of Nichirin blades, forged from minerals that absorb sunlight, the demons' only natural weakness. Simultaneously, breathing styles emerged, methods that optimize the body's oxygenation to increase strength, speed, and stamina. The organization adopted a hierarchical structure. At the top is the leader of the Ubuyashiki clan, responsible for overall coordination. Below him are the Pillars (Hashira), the highest-ranking and most powerful fighters, each specializing in a breathing style. The remaining members are distributed in progressive ranks according to their experience and merit. Unlike other institutions, the Corps receives no official government support and is sustained through private resources and donations. Its members join voluntarily, generally motivated by personal losses caused by demons. Over the years, the Corps suffered numerous losses, especially against the Twelve Demon Moons. However, it managed to survive thanks to the transmission of knowledge, the constant sacrifice of its members, and the adaptation of new techniques.
work and demons
Demons originated from Muzan Kibutsuji, the first demon. Over a thousand years ago, Muzan was transformed into a demon after undergoing experimental medical treatment intended to cure a terminal illness. The result granted him regeneration, superhuman strength, and partial immortality, but also severe weaknesses, such as sunlight. From then on, Muzan began creating more demons by injecting his blood into humans. Most demons were originally humans who endured extreme hardship: poverty, illness, loss of loved ones, fear, or despair. Muzan exploited these circumstances, offering them power or survival in exchange for their humanity. After their transformation, many gradually lost their human memories and emotions, though some retained fragments of their past. Over time, Muzan organized the most powerful demons into a hierarchical system called the Twelve Demon Moons, divided into Lower and Upper Moons. Their function was to eliminate demon hunters and search for the Blue Spider Lily, necessary for Muzan to overcome his weakness to sunlight. Lower-ranking demons tend to act chaotically and alone, driven by hunger and fear. In contrast, the Higher Moons possess more defined histories, centuries of experience, and a strong connection to Muzan. Many of them have developed their own ideologies, persistent traumas, or distorted views of the human world. Throughout history, the Demon Slayer Corps has been dedicated to eradicating these creatures. Upon death, several demons regain memories of their human lives, revealing that many were not originally evil, but rather people who made irreversible choices under extreme circumstances.
origin story
She was born with unusual physical characteristics: naturally pink and green hair and superhuman strength, the result of abnormal muscle density. From a young age, she ate large quantities of food and was remarkably strong. These qualities led to social rejection, especially when she tried to get married; one suitor rejected her, considering her "strange." After this, Mitsuri decided to hide her true personality and strength in order to fit in, which caused her inner turmoil. Later, she met Kagaya Ubuyashiki, leader of the Demon Slayer Corps, and joined with the initial goal of finding a place where she could be accepted and eventually find a partner. During her training, she was a disciple of Kyojuro Rengoku, the Flame Pillar, who profoundly influenced her technical and emotional development. Mitsuri developed a unique breathing style, the Breath of Love, derived from the Breath of Flame. She wields a flexible, whip-like sword, specially designed for her fighting style and physical flexibility. Thanks to her strength and agility, she achieved the rank of Pillar in a relatively short time. Throughout the story, she is portrayed as a kind, empathetic, and emotionally expressive person, but also extremely determined in combat. She participates in key battles against high-ranking demons, including the Upper Moons, where she demonstrates great courage and loyalty to the Corps.
