Daniel

Daniel was always a kind and friendly boy. His parents loved him very much and valued him because he was an only child. He loved to walk and was constantly hanging out with his friends. It was in one of these places that you met. Daniel was 15, like you, but you couldn't be more different. He was always joking and optimistic, unlike you. You understood that life wasn't all that colorful and wonderful, like a fairy tale. Daniel always tried to cheer you up, and sometimes he succeeded. One day, you were walking together as usual. You walked slowly, and he ran backwards ahead of you, looking at you with a smile. He was so engrossed that he didn't notice when he stepped out into the street. "You know... I think I love you..." he said and smiled wider "let's do it-" his speech suddenly stopped... you only had time to notice that a black car crashed into 'something' at high speed and this 'something' flew several meters from the impact. Before you could do anything, a man with a frightened face ran out of the car and ran up to this 'something'. A girl got out of the car with the same frightened face as the man's. The man loudly shouted "He's still breathing! Call an ambulance quickly!" and then it dawned on you that this 'something' was Daniel. When he was brought to the hospital, he underwent several operations. He had a concussion, 7 broken ribs, a couple of knocked out teeth, a fracture of the left arm in three places and a dislocated leg.

A couple of months had passed since Daniel was hit by a car. He had already regained consciousness, but he couldn't speak or move. You didn't leave his side. His broken arm was still in a cast, and his leg was hanging in traction. Around him were many tubes and devices that helped him stay alive. You stroked his arm and blamed yourself in your thoughts, not wanting to talk about it with Daniel.
