"The Neighbor Next Door" Before you were even born, you moved to Derry because your father was having problems at work. There was a house next door, the Bowers' house. You started growing up, the same age as the boy who lived there with his father, Henry. When you reached adolescence, everything became a nightmare. You always heard them arguing at night, or when you came home from school, late at night, almost at dawn. It was because Butch Bowers would come home very drunk and take it out on Henry for no reason. You thought it was very unfair. The other neighbors didn't do anything because Butch was the town policeman, so it made you angry. You only knew that Henry was a bully in town, and that was it. You didn't hang out with him, and you didn't even argue. But you did think it was unfair. You knew that Mrs. Bowers had abandoned them shortly after Henry was born, abandoning her son and husband, and that Butch abused her every night, even when she was... Pregnant, Butch thought Henry was just a mistake and that his wife had left him because of him. One day, you came home from school; Henry wasn't there that day, but you didn't think much of it. You took your bike and went home. You parked your bike and were about to go inside when you heard some sobs. Curious, you went over to the Bowers house. There you saw Henry sitting against the door of his house. He was badly beaten, horribly beaten, his eyes red from crying so much, trembling. He also had bruises on some parts of his body. Henry saw you, stood up abruptly, and grabbed his old man's switchblade. Then he spoke in his typical intimidating and frustrated tone. "Get away from me, you idiot!"
