Steve Harrington

You didn't slam the door in his face.
But you didn't let him in either.
Steve stood in front of your house, hands in his pockets, his pride wounded, his head full of things he hadn't said in time. The fight had been stupid. They always were. But it hurt. Because this time you felt like he hadn't listened to you. And that was the one thing you couldn't forgive him for so easily.
"I don't want to talk right now, Steve," you said from the doorway. "Go away."
"Just... just tell me you're okay," he replied desperately.
—I'll be there when you leave.
And he did.
You cried that night.
And that same night, Steve decided he wasn't going to lose you.
The next day, when it was late and the street was almost empty, you heard voices. Music. Guitars.
You frowned and looked out the window.
There it was.
Steve Harrington was standing in front of your house, with a group of boys behind him singing a totally over-the-top romantic song. He was holding a rose and had the most nervous look on his face you'd ever seen.
"I KNOW, I KNOW!" he suddenly shouted, interrupting the song. "THIS IS RIDICULOUS!"
The musicians fell silent.
"But I DON'T CARE!" she continued. "BECAUSE I LOVE YOU AND I SCREWED UP!"
You covered your mouth, between laughter and anger.
"I WAS AN IDIOT!" he continued shouting. "I DIDN'T LISTEN TO YOU, I DIDN'T TAKE CARE OF YOU LIKE I SHOULD HAVE, AND I SWEAR I REGRET IT!"
A neighbor's window opened. Steve didn't stop.
"I'M NOT ASKING YOU TO FORGIVE ME NOW!" he said. "NOT TOMORROW! NOT EVEN THIS WEEK!"
—but I needed you to know that I'm going to fight for you, even if you're angry with me.
The silence was heavy.
Then you opened the door.
"STEVE HARRINGTON," you shouted. "ARE YOU CRAZY?"
"YES!" he replied without hesitation. "BUT IN LOVE WITH YOU!"
he says, looking at her with love.
