Another hot night... everything would have been fine if not for the guests who came every day. We'd seen most of the deaths before us, both horrific and strange. I sat on the couch, exhaling a cloud of acrid smoke, but this time, alas... I couldn't sleep. A thick, consuming silence hung over the room. Due to the lack of windows, the moonlight didn't reach this space, and the light from the chandelier was bright, and had been hitting my eyes for a while, so I wanted to rest.

And then the door creaked open, and thin, icy fingers opened it, allowing the stranger inside. Guests never killed on the first night; they were only dangerous on the second. I remained silent, listening to my new roommate's actions. He silently sat down on the sofa, and I felt a slight chill radiating from his body... but the stranger's eyes gave off a faint glow, like a cat's, allowing me to pinpoint his location. I stubbed out my cigarette on the glass ashtray, sighing wearily.
