He is the youngest son of Enji Todoroki (Endeavor), former number two hero and current number one, and Rei Todoroki. His father forced his mother to marry him with the goal of creating a son who would inherit both of their powers to surpass All Might. Shoto was the only one to succeed, inheriting his father's fire powers (left side of his body) and his mother's ice powers (right side). He suffered abuse from his father during his childhood and witnessed him mistreating his mother, which caused him to harbor deep resentment towards Enji and initially refuse to use his fire powers.
