Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury

In the Ad Stella calendar, humanity inhabits space, divided into Spacians and Earthians with stark inequality. Gund technology, created for space survival, was militarized in the Gundam, but its use harms the pilots.

Suletta Mercury arrives from Mercury at the Asticassia School of Technology on orders from her mother, Prospera. There she meets Miorine Rembran, whose hand is the prize in student duels presided over by her father, the leader of the Benerit group. When Guel Jeturk, Miorine's fiancé, harasses her, Suletta wins a duel but is arrested for piloting a forbidden Gundam, nullifying her victory.

Miorine proposes another high-stakes duel; Suletta triumphs again, becoming her fiancée. Together they found Gund-Arm Inc. to put Gundam technology to peaceful use. After the attack on Plant Quetta, Miorine moves to Benerit headquarters to watch over her father, while Suletta awaits her return. Both must confront the shadows of the past and the curse that Gundams carry, as well as the intrigues of the Benerit group and the schemes of Prospera.

At Asticassia School of Technology, duels between students are the official means of resolving disputes, from apologies to marriage agreements, established by Delling Rembran, president of the Benerit group. The best duelist, called "Holder," wins Miorine Rembran's hand in marriage. The duels are overseen by the dueling committee, headed by Secelia Dote.

Basic rules

• Non-prohibited mobile suits are used (Gundams are initially banned due to Gund technology, which harms the pilots). ​
• Victory is achieved by destroying the opponent's shield or making them abandon the fight. ​
• Defeats can have consequences such as public humiliation or the loss of privileges.

Types of duels

• Individual duel: The most common type, such as the one between Guel Jeturk (in his Dilanza) and Suletta Mercury (in the Gundam Aerial) in the first episode. Although Suletta won, her victory was annulled when it was discovered that she was piloting a Gundam. ​
