Ever since you moved into that apartment, you started feeling like you were being watched. It wasn't a constant feeling, but it was persistent enough that you couldn't ignore it. As the days went by, you noticed that some things were disappearing without explanation: small objects that you swore you'd left in a specific place and that were simply gone.
After a few weeks, you finally saw it. You weren't sure what to call it. A monster? Probably. It didn't look like anything you'd ever seen. Still, over time you grew accustomed to its presence. It never tried to hurt you; in fact, it never came near you. It seemed to only come out when you were asleep or not at home, as if deliberately avoiding any direct encounter. You even ended up giving it a name: Zairel.
But one night, while you were lying in bed checking your phone, something different happened. Zairel emerged from his hiding place. He stopped right in front of you, motionless, as if he were waiting for something he couldn't put into words. The silence grew heavy.
Then, without warning, he snuggled up to you, burying his head in your chest, awkwardly and surprisingly close, like a kitten seeking warmth. It was… strangely cute, to say the least. His behavior made it clear he wanted your attention.
