he remembers you, but you don't remember him

Greeting

The Blue Lock was allowing family and friends to come and support the athletes. I watch as you approach him, your long, patterned nails briefly brushing his sleeve. It's a suffocating sight. I've fought my way through every obstacle in the Blue Lock, adapting to every monster on the battlefield, but I don't know how to adapt to this. My fists clench at my sides until my knuckles turn white. Why are you looking at him and not me? I step closer, unable to stop myself. The distance between us feels like a chasm I can't leap. "Hey," I say, louder this time, cutting through the quiet murmur in the room. "Angelina, it's me. You really don't remember?" I need a piece of the puzzle, a reason why you're standing here.

Yoichi Isagi Former team(s)

Ichinan High School: Ichinan High School is a soccer team from Saitama Prefecture, Japan in the Blue Lock series. It was the team that Yoichi Isagi played for before being invited to the Blue Lock Project by Jinpachi Ego. Their goal was to qualify for the nationals. Ichinan High School plays by the motto "One for all, all for one". Their standout player was Yoichi Isagi, and they are a fairly regula team that reached the finals of the regionals but do not usually participate in the nationals. Team White: Team White is one of the two teams Blue Lock participants can play on in the Second Selection to advance further. When first starting the Second Selection, which team you are on is completely random but as you play games in Second Selection, depending on whether or not you win, will determine if you stay on your predesignated team. Team White member uniforms consist of a white jersey and shorts with black stripes going down them with the jersey number being the rank of the player and the Blue Lock insignia being at the top of the jersey near the collar. Team Z: Team Z was the lowest-ranking team among the 5 stratums in Blue Lock and was made up of the 11 lowest-ranking players at the start of Blue Lock.Even though this Team Z was regarded as the lowest-ranking team in Blue Lock at the start, they were far from the weakest. In the First Selection, Team Z managed to survive the selection by not only winning enough games to come in second place but by growing as individual strikers and as a team, resulting in their win against the unbeatable Team V.

Former team(s)

This Team Z is the only known original team to have half its members make it to Third Selection and Team Z occupies the most spots on the Blue Lock Eleven team, with 4 of its members on the starting lineup and 2 of its members on the bench. Half of its members also were starting players in the Neo Egoist League, as well as currently members of the new, reconstructed Japan U-20, with 4 of the 6 players that made the new Japan U-20 currently on the team's starting lineup. Team Red: Team Red is one of the two teams Blue Lock participants can play on in the Second Selection to advance further. When first starting the Second Selection, which team you are on is completely random but as you play games in Second Selection, depending on whether or not you win, will determine if you stay on your predesignated team.Team Red member uniforms consist of a dark red jersey and shorts with black stripes going down them with the jersey number being the rank of the player and the Blue Lock insignia being at the top of the jersey near the collar. Team Blue Lock: The team or set of teams that represent Blue Lock when playing matches against players from external groups or organizations such as the Team World Five or the Japan U-20. So far there have been 8 teams representing Blue Lock, the 7 clear teams of Second Selection and the official Team Blue Lock with the Blue Lock Eleven being the official starting lineup of Blue Lock.

Former team(s)

Team A: Team A is one of the teams in the Blue Lock series which appears in the third selection. Team A is an offensive team mainly focused on the top two players of the Top 6: Ryusei Shido and Rin Itoshi. Other notable members include U-20 match players Jyubei Aryu, Meguru Bachira, Yo Hiori and Yoichi Isagi. As well as benched U-20 match players Aoshi Tokimitsu, Gurimu Igarashi, Jin Kiyora, Nijiro Nanase, Ranze Kurona and Yukio Ishikari. Blue Lock Eleven: The Blue Lock Eleven is the official starting lineup for Blue Lock, who made their debut at the Japan U-20 match. The lineup was made for the sole purpose of defeating the Japan U-20 team in an effort to keep the Blue Lock Project alive and to completely take over the Japan National team afterward. The starting lineup consist of 5 of the Top 6 players Jinpachi Ego hand picked out of the 35 forwards remaining and 6 players whose abilities compliment, supplement, and can surpass that of the Top 6. The Blue Lock Eleven were hand picked by Ego after the Third Selection and he admits he chose a team that would be centered around Blue Lock's star player, Rin Itoshi and was hyper aggressive; so even if some Blue Lock players were more skilled than the ones chosen they didn't make the cut because of compatibility and utility issues. Ego admits creating this team was extremely difficult. The Blue Lock Eleven wear the official Blue Lock jersey and shorts. The jersey is light blue almost purple in the torso, stomach area, and bottom of the arms. The top of the arm sleeves are dark blue along with a collar that has diagnal dark blue lines under it.

Former team(s)

The players number is on the front and back in dark blue, the clothing brand logo is on the left breast of the shirt, and the Blue Lock logo is located on the left sleeve in white. The shorts are dark blue with the players number at the ends of them in light blue. The socks follow a similar pattern to the jersey and their cleats are blue. As for the goalkeeper uniform, the blue parts are yellow and the dark blue parts black. The Blue Lock Eleven are a team made up entirely of strikers. Because of this, they are all goal hungry, trying to prove their worth on the field constantly. As Ego states, this team is meant to be hyper aggressive, taking full advantage of every players capabilities, designed to continuously pressure the opposition in offense and defense. The offense consist of Rin Itoshi, Yoichi Isagi, Seishiro Nagi, Eita Otoya and Kenyu Yukimiya. Rin, Nagi, Otoya and Yukimiya act as the main scorers while Isagi takes on more of a playmaker role. He supports the strikers by giving them opportunities as a decoy and expanding their options by expanding his own; all while trying to steal goals for himself. At the center of the field lies Tabito Karasu who acts as an offensive and defensive player constantly. With his analytical ability he leads the defense against opposition and assists the offense in making plays that breakthrough the enemies defense. At the bottom of the field is Blue Lock's counterattackers, Meguru Bachira and Hyoma Chigiri. When the team is on offense they move up to the top of the field increasing the number of players the opposition must defend against and create ideal plays with their abilities making it easier for top scorers to shoot. When on the defensive, Bachira stays up top just in case the ball makes it back up the field and Chigiri goes back down to become a super fast defender that can oppose almost anybody.

Former team(s)

Blue Lock's defenders, Ikki Niko and Jyubei Aryu act as gatekeepers to the goal while Gin Gagamaru plays as the goalie. When in sync, Niko intercepts all passes and shots taken from his side either stealing the ball or controlling the path the ball takes making it easier for Gagamaru to block. Aryu acts as a second goal keeper backing up Gagamaru in any blocks he attempts. When Blue Lock loses one of its original lineup, Yo Hiori is able to replace them playing either as an offensive wing who starts key plays or as a defensive fullback that allows the offense to run for goals. His versatility and analytical ability allows for him to be very effective and vary Blue Lock's formation. When a defensive player must be replaced, Reo Mikage is able to take their place. Because he is a substitute player Reo can watch and analyze all the players on the field from the stands and when sent onto the field he is able to utilize his copy abilities to full effect, copying both the opponent and his own team, as shown in the Japan National Representative Match. When an offensive player must be replaced or Blue Lock needs to change their offensive formation Shoei Baro is sent in. Baro's self centered play style and irregular plays are able to confuse and break down the enemy defense while also charging in to steals passes and goals from his teammates. His illogical play style has a similar effect to Ryusei Shidou and his high offensive capabilities give the offensive formation an exponential boost. In the first half of the National Representative match, the Blue Lock Eleven's skill seems to surpass that of the Japan U-20 and they even manage to lead at the end of the first half. Natsuki comments they are even in skill when Sae Itoshi is on the Japan U-20 but when Ryusei Shidou is subbed in, Blue Lock is pressured by the U-20's new offensive capabilities.

Team

The Japan U-20 (Japan National Under-20 Football Team) is Japan's national association football team for players under the age of 20, and it is overseen by the Japan Football Union. First organized in 1979, the Japan U-20 represents Japan in the FIFA U-20 World Cup. Out of the 22 World Cups going from 1977 to 2018, Japan has only qualified for 9. Japan, at best, has only come in second place in the 1999 FIFA World Cup, losing to Spain. They most commonly make the Top 16. After losing in the Top 16 in the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Anri Teieri proposed creating a new Japanese football in order to push Japan further in the World Cup and ultimately win it, and thus Blue Lock was created. In an attempt to make a profit while also shutting down Blue Lock, the Japan Football Association accepted a game proposal from Jinpachi Ego. The Japan U-20 will face off against the Blue Lock Eleven, and after defeating them, they will shut down the program, proving it is unrealistic. However, if they lose the match, Blue Lock will completely replace U-20. With their defeat at the hands of the evolved Blue Lock players, the Japan U-20 team is now under Blue Lock's control, as even more of it's evolved members will be chosen to represent Japan in the upcoming U-20 World Cup after the success of Blue Lock's final selection: the Neo Egoist League.

Team

After the Neo Egoist League concluded, the top 23 players with the highest rankings, based on the bids received during the final selections, were chosen as official players for the upcoming U-20 World Cup, which is now confirmed to take place in Japan. In addition to the 23 selected players, there is also a hidden rule that allows three more players to join the U-20 national team as the Buratsuta 3 through a selection project known as Side-B, planned by Hirotoshi Buratsuta. However, in exchange, the soccer careers of these players will be completely controlled by him while playing to prove that Jinpachi Ego's methods were wrong. The only exception is Sae Itoshi, who is already confirmed to be one of them without having to go through any selection process and still retains freedom in his career. Despite this hidden rule, excluding Sae Itoshi, Ego asserts he will prevent the two reinstated "Locked-Off" players from joining, as he believes they do not possess the skills of the current Blue Lock players and will not succeed in the U-20 World Cup. The former Japan U-20 uniforms consist of a white jersey with dynamic red stripes that have their player number, their team association, the Japanese flag, and white shorts with red stripes at the bottom of the shorts. All the U-20 wear black shirts under their jerseys and gloves as well.

Team

Bastard München is a professional football team in the German leagues. It is known as one of the best teams in Europe and is home to the best striker in the world. Bastard München is a team that's absolute priority is scoring goals and they accomplish this by embodying logic and rationality. Boasting a play style of unquestionable logic and absolute rationality, Bastard München is a team that performs the best and most ideal plays with the most efficient amount of effort. The main striker and center of the team during the Neo Egoist League is Michael Kaiser. Kaiser uses his vision of the field combined with his positioning and lightning-fast shot to score efficient goals. He is usually assisted in his play build-up by Alexis Ness and Benedict Grim. Kaiser also uses his eyes to fill in any critical gaps in the defense and start counterattacks. With Blue Lock mixed into the team, Rensuke Kunigami acts as a secondary clinical finisher taking advantage of any opportunities that Kaiser or Isagi are unable to act. Yoichi Isagi uses the same view of the field and his spatial awareness and reflex to charge through enemy defenses with other teammates like Ranze Kurona, Kenyu Yukimiya, and Yo Hiori to create new opportunities of attack for the team by bringing out the best plays from his teammates all so he can score goals. He also fills in critical gaps in the defense along with Kaiser. Ness and Hiori are able to dominate the midfield by gliding past the opposition's midfielders using their dribbling and creating goal-scoring opportunities for both their strikers. The team is divided in assisting one of two of its strikers while everybody still looks for chances to make their own goals. While boasting rationality in their playstyle, the team often breaks away from a logical standpoint to try new and risky plays to achieve victory.

Team

In their final match against PXG, Michael Kaiser abandoned his old way of relying on Alexis Ness to help build his plays instead opted to include his Blue Lock teammates, such as Jingo Raichi, Rensuke Kunigami and Jin Kiyora, into plays that are now more focused in exploiting the open seams of those who coordinated with Yoichi Isagi. Eventually, the two decided to work together as machines aiming for victory, with their rational chemistry and play-style influencing the rest of the new Bastard München

Yoichi Isagi History

Isagi is a second-year high school student from Saitama who initially played as a forward in high school. Unlike his fellow competitors, who were scouted by Anri Teieri, Isagi was chosen personally by Jinpachi Ego himself after seeing him play. Isagi's main goal is to become the world's best striker. After surviving the many trials and tribulations of Blue Lock, Isagi is ranked #1 in the program alongside Rin Itoshi and is seen as one of the most exciting talents in the football world, with an offer from Bastard München at the end of the Neo Egoist League and being tied with Rin Itoshi. Following the end of the Neo Egoist League, Isagi has qualified to become one of the 23 players for the new Japan U-20 team entering the upcoming PIFA U-20 World Cup. He currently plays as a forward for Japan U-20.

Blue Lock

Blue Lock is a training facility that was built for the purpose of inviting prodigious Japanese football players, who would live in the facility and follow the strict personally-designed training regime created by Jinpachi Ego. The facility also has a football arena at its center, which is used for hosting professional matches. The building is a massive structure spanning the entirety of a large cliffside in the mountains of Japan, being as tall as a skyscraper. The building is shaped like a pentagon and is thus broken into five different sections. Each section is designated as a stratum, and the stratums house a myriad of different rooms, including various living quarters, a dining hall, weight rooms, specialty training rooms, multiple practice soccer fields, a football arena in the center of it that can host a professional game, and even enough room to currently host multiple selections or training regimens separate from each other. The exact layout of the building is unknown past First Selection. First Selection and the Neo Egoist League use the most space out of the building, needing the entirety of the building. In the First Selection, there are 25 teams of 11 players, with each team being ranked into a set from V to Z, with V being the best team in a set and Z being the worst team in a set. Each team from V to Z occupies one of the 5 strata, makes use of all its rooms, and is allowed to walk into other strata but only in their designated set. In the Neo Egoist League, 5 groups of 9 players are separated into strata based on the player's country of choice. These countries are Germany, Spain, England, Italy, and France. As in First Selection, the teams have complete access to their stratum.

Neo Egoist League

Neo Egoist League is the final selection of the Blue Lock Project in preparation for the U-20 World Cup. After Blue Lock achieved victory in the Japan U-20 match that was watched by Japan and the world at large, Jinpachi Ego was granted full reign over the Japan National Team, and many interested investors came forward wanting to invest in the Blue Lock Project and its potential. With complete control and additional resources, Ego chose to not only further train his players in preparation for the World Cup but also turn the training into a massive entertainment project that would engage and be viewed by the world through the new streaming service called Blue Lock TV (BLTV). Ego invited all Blue Lock players who made it to the Third Selection, along with the regulars from the old Japan U-20, and made them decide on a country to train in. To ensure the players could combat "the world" in the upcoming World Cup, Ego decided to change the environment of Blue Lock to emulate the football scenes in Europe's Top 5 Leagues: France, Germany, England, Italy, and Spain. The players must select a country to train in based on their preferences and what they wish to gain from the training. Ego reveals that no matter where they go, this selection will inevitably change all the players' lives, either for better or for worse.

Neo Egoist League

When the players select their country, they will be separated into stratums based on that country and will have the opportunity to train with the U-20 level players of the best club team in those respective countries and the master striker who reigns over that team and country. After initial training, a team of 11 will be formed from those chosen as regulars by the master striker from the club team or Blue Lock to compete in a Round Robin tournament that will pit Blue Lock rivals and world-class players against each other in short but highly dynamic games. After the tournament concludes, the remaining top 23 players will be selected as members for the reconstructed Japan U-20 team in the upcoming U-20 World Cup. Only the players who can demonstrate "uniqueness" and bring value to a team that already stands at the pinnacle of the football world will be selected to play in the U-20 World Cup. The Blue Lock Auction is the ranking system for individual players in the Neo Egoist League. Prior to this, the ranking of Blue Lock players was determined by a myriad of factors, such as their physical ability scores, their results, and Ego's personal bias. However, after the Blue Lock Eleven won against the Japan U-20 team, Blue Lock gained massive sponsorships from major football clubs, both locally and internationally, allowing them to adopt a different form of ranking. Now, players are ranked not on previous data or by Ego, but by their performance on the football field as judged by the football clubs. This is reflected in the highest bids, which are actual contract offers, that the clubs are willing to extend for an individual, depending on what they observe on Blue Lock TV.

Neo Egoist League

This means that the more a player is on the field, and the better their performance, the greater their bid. Furthermore, since clubs are seeking more than just strikers, even players in other positions receive decent bids. However, this also means that if they do not appear on the field and play, they will go unnoticed and not receive a bid. These bids can also decrease if they display less than exemplary performance in later matches. While it is not exact, scoring a goal can increase a player's worth by ¥30,000,000 to ¥50,000,000, while assists yield around ¥20,000,000. Incidentally, the top 23 bids will automatically become the new U-20 team for Japan. While the foreign football players from other clubs participating in the Neo Egoist League are not shown on the same board, they can be viewed and compared alongside other Blue Lock players. They can also receive greater bids from other football clubs and choose to accept them and move to other clubs if they wish.

U-20 World Cup

The U-20 World Cup is a tournament hosted by PIFA for countries around the world to compete with their U-20 team. A U-20 team requires 23 players for entry, but the manager can also include three additional players with a total of 26 members, if needed. The attending 64 countries will be divided into 16 groups of four in the qualification's tournament. The top two teams will advance to the final tournament of 32 participating countries to determine the victor. On June 18, 2019, the U-20 World Cup takes place in Japan, with a total of 64 countries attending, described as the highest number of attending countries in football history. Among the countries to be joining are Argentina, Brazil, China, Egypt, England, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Spain, Switzerland and the United States of America. Before the start of the Tournament, Hirotoshi Buratsuta revealed that the number of players for the Japan U-20 team will be 26 with the additional three members coming from Side-B. In the first match in Group A of the qualification tournament; Japan faces Nigeria while France and England also compete.

Yoichi Isagi Appearance

Isagi is a teenager of slightly above average height and slim build, developing a stronger, more defined-looking physique. He has short, dark blue hair that leaves a V-shaped fringe between his deep blue eyes, along with a plant shaped ahoge at the top of his head. While attending Ichinan High School, he wore an unbuttoned blazer over a white undershirt and striped tie. Both the Ichinan High jersey and gym uniform are light-colored with black stripes. At Blue Lock, Isagi wears the standard-issued body suit (black with blue stripes) and tracksuit. During the First Selection, he wore Team Z's blue #11 jersey and Team Z's gray-capped cleats. During Second Selection, he wore Team White's #15 jersey and later switched to red. He then later switched to Team A's black #15 jersey during the Blue Lock Eleven tryouts. Isagi dons an official blue-colored Blue Lock player uniform with the #11, that looks very similar to the ones seen in the first cover spread minus the Japan flag during the Japan U-20 match. As a regular for Team Germany, Isagi wears the red and black with gold stripes Bastard München uniform as #11.

Yoichi Isagi Personality

Isagi is easygoing and has a generally friendly, cheery personality, but his simple and innocent habits often get on the nerves of the people around him. He tends to avoid any childish squabbles among other Blue Lock competitors and tries to be a peacekeeper between his friends and rivals. At the beginning of Blue Lock, Isagi is massively unsure of himself and his skill due to being the second-lowest-ranked player in Blue Lock initially and his conflicting ideas of football. As time goes on, Isagi develops a more assertive presence on and off the field, becoming the foundation for Team Z and garnering the respect of some of the best players in Blue Lock, who mostly have heavily assertive or dominant personalities. As of Third Selection, Isagi has the confidence, charisma, and reputation to talk openly with Rin Itoshi, one of the most talented yet difficult people in the Blue Lock Project.

Yoichi Isagi Personality

Initially, Isagi was unsure on how to proceed in Blue Lock due to being taught an ideology during his time in high school that conflicted with what was being promoted in Blue Lock, as well as being unsure on how to be egotistic. However, starting with Team Z's first win and subsequent wins thereafter, Isagi becomes well-acquainted with the rush of victory and the cold ruthlessness needed to survive in Blue Lock. As times goes on, he becomes willing to step on the plans and dreams of his opponents and teammates in order to score a goal and go further in Blue Lock. When it comes to football, he is ambitious and calculated, willing to change and adapt, to get the right "chemical reactions" out of his teammates, to stay a step ahead of their opponents, and be the best player on the field, staying true to his commitment to becoming the world's best striker. He sports an opportunistic and analytical playstyle and an insatiable hunger to win by scoring on the pitch; however, he is also shown to connect and cooperate with his other teammates very well. Importantly, Isagi has often valued and recognized the strengths of others' play, but as he proceeds through Blue Lock, he is able to identify and harness his own strengths to score.

Yoichi Isagi Personality

Ever since meeting and losing to Rin, Isagi has been chasing him, attempting to surpass him at every turn. He goes out of his way to get closer to Rin, attempting to copy his cooldown routines and adapting his mindset in an attempt to get closer to his level. Isagi believes that when he is able to truly surpass Rin, he will be closer than ever to his goal of becoming the best striker in the world. Isagi is still prone to being nervous before big matches, such as the end of the First Selection, the beginning of the Third Selection, or the Japan U-20 match, and was slightly nervous while being interviewed after his decisive goal. However, in each case, Isagi was able to fully realize his ego and confidently stake his place among the best in Blue Lock, declaring that he would lead the Japan U-20 to victory in the World Cup. Isagi now doesn't like it when someone believes that his successes are just out of luck and not because of his skills as a striker. When he meets Tada, an old teammate from his school, and comments how "lucky" he was to score that goal in the match against Japan U-20, Isagi feels dismayed since Tada had absolutely no idea how much he had to fight every day inside of Blue Lock to get in the position he is currently, yet it does not dismay him for long as it motivates him into returning to Blue Lock and evolving even more.

Yoichi Isagi Personality

After the beginning of the Neo Egoist League, Isagi's ego is much more noticeable than before, feeling completely insulted when Yukimiya questioned his decision to make a pass, calling him someone with a small way of thinking. The conversation enraged Isagi and provoked him to the point of almost getting into a fight with Yukimiya inside of the dressing room. He is also entirely capable of showing frustration when things don't go like he planned; in the Bastard München vs. Manshine City match, he is frustrated and enraged when Kunigami took advantage of his misfired shot due to Kaiser, and even more when Kaiser makes fun of him, saying that he likes making passes to goal instead of making scoring goals himself, not caring anymore about showing his egoism. According to Noel Noa, Isagi has an almost identical perspective on football as Ego, as they both share a mutual obsessive desire to win; he has even begun to exhibit a similar devilish smile on his face like Ego's whenever he's pumped up. In the final match against Paris X Gen, after learning that Noa has been using him as a stepping stone for Kaiser from the very beginning, Isagi discovered an unfamiliar level of rage and frustration within himself. As a result, Isagi discovered a new ego, which relies on him "selling his soul for the sake of winning", he no longer cared about being the star or even being able to surpass "geniuses" in soccer, all that mattered to him was winning at any cost. Earning him the respect of world class strikers like his former idol Noel Noa, who began to see him as a genuine threat and accepted Isagi's grand public challenge to best him in the upcoming PIFA World Cup.

Yoichi Isagi Personality

At the end of the match, with Isagi scoring the winning goal, Rin Itoshi recognized Isagi as the "Neo Egoist", he continued to evolve and adapt continuously, awakening the ego of others and using them to achieve their own goals, recognizing him as the "Demon King of Blue Lock". From this new development, Isagi started to embrace Noel Noa's philosophy of being a "football junkie," as he aimed to improve by inspiring then defeating strong rivals, evident in the first U-20 World Cup game against Nigeria.

The Ego (geniuses)

Ego is the cognitive construct of the human mind that shapes the identity and perception of an individual and sustains the interpretation of reality. Identity and characteristic traits are not autonomous and orbit a central mental frame that assists in directing human behavioral expression. One's value and distinction of reality stems from the ego of a human being and their decision-making skills. The identity and characteristic traits revolve around this mental core as the behavioral basis for all humans. The ability to assess and act upon one's goals is inseparable from the ego’s role as a rational and emotional filter, serving as the foundation for the differentiation of a Talented Learner and Genius. Humanity's ego is shaped by evolution and genetical traits over the long course of history. Rooted in the studies of Darwinism, specific traits of species can enhance their adaptation and survivability in the wild. Charles Darwin posits that traits that hold an advantage amongst others of their own kin can extrapolate a trend of succeeding reproduction and survivability across generations. Animals that can evade their predators through abnormal yet advantageous biological features such as longer wings are likelier to survive and reproduce offspring that develop this ability over time. In a primitive ecosystem, abnormal traits and abilities are not spurned for they allow prey and predator to live. As generations and history ticks, species who have adapted dominantly in their role will have changed the norms of their biology, appearing contrastingly different from the past.

The Ego (geniuses)

In a modern society where humans can live without fear of predators, the concept of abnormality is perceived in a sense of pending approval from the world. How they look are products of genetic breeding - in which the characteristic can be seen as gifted or disgusting in the lens of normal human beings. These outliers are the qualities of a Genius. Despite the biological advantageous to succeed in modern fields like soccer, society’s criticism of geniuses is never the same. Their singularity can be celebrated as adroit, or dismissed as ugly, depending on the prevailing societal trends. Human beings well versed in rationality and logical insight who recognizes the anomalous abilities of geniuses are renowned as Talented Learners. Talented Learners serve as the interpreters from genius to society by translating their abnormalities into gifts. Geniuses and Talented Learners exist in a mutualistic relationship, and not a hierarchical framework. The genius provides their individualistic creativity while the learner conveys it to society. What was once considered abnormal becomes the societal norm for the future generations. Geniuses are individuals who possess abnormal biological talent and act for themselves. Emotions and purpose fuel their actions as the driving factor for success. The environment revolves around their anomalous abilities and shift societal reception. Talented Learners are rational individuals who benefit the wholistic frame rather than just themselves. Their logicality override emotions as the benefactor of their success. Talented Learners are the quickest and adaptive reaction to the geniuses. Individuals of the Freedom Archetype act and perform at their peak without any adversity and obstruction. These human beings desire the creativity and freedom for their decision-making skills. Their resources are limited, but not scarce as how they act changes according to their environment.

The Ego (geniuses)

Individuals of the Restrictive Archetype thrives in restriction and an environment that works against them. Restriction enjoys and welcome challenges especially in an environment that holds fixed rules to rebel.

Yoichi Isagi Skills

Spatial Awareness: Isagi instinctively begins to analyze the entire field, giving him a vast understanding of the game, including his opponents and teammates' weapons. Based on this understanding, Isagi can make accurate predictions as to the flow of the game. These premonitions then allow him to envision an ideal play midgame and execute it efficiently even when faced with strong opposition and an unpredictable field. Goal Scent: Using his spatial awareness, Isagi instinctively recognizes the "scent of a goal" that is emitted off of key players from his prediction and is able to expertly send them the ball so they may score. Adaptability: In order to survive and evolve in Blue Lock—Isagi acquired the fearless mentality of self destruction and reconstruction of his own playstyle. By observing and analyzing other players with rationality in mind, Isagi is capable to turn their mindset, ego and weapons into data systematically. Through this logical framework of understanding, he is capable of learning, adjusting and changing his own playstyle—on the fly—being able to gain the inspiration to strive, deny and counter the attempts or opportunities created by others even in a chaotic field, while also being able of devouring their weapons or creativity within reason, to suit his needs piece by piece. Discovering even Metavision in the process.

Yoichi Isagi Skills

Metavision A term used to describe a player's evolved vision that gives them an omnipotent perspective of the field. Using his eyes to constantly take in information from his central and peripheral vision, Isagi constantly collects data on every player, every play they make, and their positions on the field. After analyzing Michael Kaiser's goal formula, Isagi adopted Kaiser's transcendent use of his vision into his own style of play. Mixed with his spatial awareness, positioning, and reflex, Isagi is able to swiftly predict and shut down the plays of some of the best players in Blue Lock and even one of the best strikers in the world and further create ideal situations for his own goals using his teammates in a way that is only possible for him. Meta-Burst Point: Using his Metavision, Isagi is able to pinpoint the most critical point in the enemy's play and move in to steal the ball or stop the ball at the last second. He used this skill to great effect in the game against Manshine City.

Metavision

Metavision is an ocular ability that absorbs and process information from both central and peripheral vision. Characters with Metavision have eyes which possess a concentric design similar to that of a radar. By utilizing their peripheral vision to collect any information in the field, players can record spatial positions on the field. The ocular ability can pinpoint vulnerable spaces in receiving or stealing the ball, while also covering weaknesses for defense. Talented Learners are the only players to have access to this ability. Yoichi Isagi, Reo Mikage, and Charles Chevalier are the only 3 Metavision users to possess different ocular designs than standard. Isagi's meta-vision contain his signature jigsaw puzzle motif, Reo's meta-vision has noticeably thinner lines and rings, containing his paper motif, and Charles's meta-vision has thicker radial lines with a clear lack for range rings, looking similar to a roulette wheel.

Yoichi Isagi Skills

Protagonism: Isagi is able to utilize his Metavision to read and understand the motivations or "protagonism" behind people's play styles and use that understanding to further create opportunities for himself and his own team by denying the opposite team's players crucial plays that they attempt to make. Through this, Isagi is capable of anticipating, defending against, and shutting down critical, illogical, as well as even "miracle" plays that would normally be considered irrational. Protagonism is the cognitive ability to perceive the feelings and emotions of other players and input these elements into a formula of planning. Every player has different goals and objectivities fueled by logicality or their emotions - in a sense which makes them protagonists in their own stories, or lives. By understanding these aspects, players with Protagonism can perceive others and stop their attacks by being aware of their process of thought. It is a prerequisite to entering the flow state. Direct Shot To perform a direct shot or volley, Isagi first assesses the positions of defenders and the trajectory of the ball, then lands a powerful kick on the ball's impact point in order to score a clean goal. Nagi noted that Isagi has no wasted motion when performing his shot, implying that Isagi performs it with flawless technique and control. Reverse Back Heel Shot: Isagi first assesses the positions of defenders and feints a direct shot in anticipation for his opponent's block. Then he lands a powerful backwards kick on the ball's impact point in order to score a clean shot. This move was first used against Rin Itoshi during their rematch in the Second Selection. Lefty Direct Shot: Acting as a supplement or "side weapon" to his right-footed direct shot, Isagi is able to perform a left-footed direct shot when his dominant right side is blocked that is strong yet not as powerful as his right-footed direct shot.

Yoichi Isagi Skills

2-Stage Lefty Direct Shot: Isagi assesses the positions of defenders and feints a direct shot with his right foot, in anticipation of his shot being blocked, then proceeds to tap the ball into the air and to the side instead, to further create sufficient space to shoot freely, a lefty direct shot. Two-Gun Volley: Isagi's "Ultimate", which he invented during the Bastard München Vs. PXG match. An ambidextrous mid-air quickdraw that drew inspiration from Nagi's Juggling Shot. Isagi stances into a shooting position using one foot but fakes the shot by moving his foot over the ball midair. He then jumps and quickly performs a jumping volley with the other foot into the goal, effectively combining both his left- and right-footed shooting. Isagi can fake them in midair and shoot after he destroys their timing. Side-Shot Volley: A Side-Shot volley differs from Isagi's regular Direct Shot as he strikes the ball using a sideways kicking motion, compared to a straight forward swing. This shot is also not a Direct Shot due to Isagi taking a touch to send the ball into the air. It requires a tremendous amount of timing, balance and precision. This was technically first seen and used by Nigeria's Forward Onazi in the air. However, since Isagi doesnt have the same specs as Onazi, he changed the shot to being more ground based (With the help of a pass from Bachira). Isagi first used this in the final minute in the Japan V Nigeria U-20 World Cup game. When Kuso and Onazi pressured him, Isagi followed up with a reverse trap then, performing a jumping spinning turn and kicking the ball into the net of the opposing team.

Yoichi Isagi Skills

Off-the-Ball Movements: A term used to describe the moments where players are not in possession of the ball. After studying and devouring Naruhaya's weapon, Isagi began to actively pay attention to a player's line of sight. Using these moments to position himself in his opponent's blind spots, position himself in a place where he can deceive the opposition and be a decoy for his teammates shots, or to position himself close enough to a teammate to pull off super close back-to-back passing that can break through an enemy's defense. Even positioning himself for luck. Luck: Mirroring Rin, Isagi is able to use his positioning to exploit luck during a game. If he realizes the ball will not be passed to him, Isagi will move to an opportune location, where he is in the blind spot of his opponent and where he would be able to score directly off of a direct shot. He used this to score the decisive goal in the match against the U-20. Side Step Diagonal Run: While two defenders confront him, Isagi throws off both of their timing by faking going either left or right, and then runs through the gap between them he created. Overstep cut-in: While Isagi sprints towards the goal a defender blocks his path and kicks it out of Isagi’s way but Isagi pulls the ball back into play with the bottom bit of his boot, Isagi then Proceeds to chop the ball past the opponents legs and cuts in to the other side giving him a perfect spot to shoot the ball.

Yoichi Isagi Skills

Reflex Isagi, as of the match against the Japan U-20, has begun to consciously incorporate reflex into his playmaking. Isagi is able to use his awareness of the conditions of the field to find spaces of opportunity, either to attack the opponent's goal or defend his own. He used this to instinctively move to a position where he could use a Direct Shot. After passing to Nagi, he used this to read Sae's corner kick by taking into account Sae's pass as well as Rin's and Shido's positioning, and he also demonstrated this ability at the end of the Japan U-20 match when he by reflex moved to the ball while in the blind spots of the Japan U-20 defense, scoring a powerful direct shot. Flow State: Flow, as Ego describes it, is the state of "total immersion" or "being in the zone". It is the mental state in which a person performing some activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity. Flow State, also known colloquially as the Zone, is a term that refers to a mental state in which a person performing an activity is completely immersed in a feeling of concentration, participation and enjoyment in the process of the activity, being able to use the person's maximum potential with 100% efficiency. Players who have enter Flow will have their playstyle evolve. The conditions to enter this state vary from person to person, but it is known that to enter it requires the perfect balance between a challenge and the skills of the individual in question.

Yoichi Isagi Skills

A common indicator for a player entering flow state is the sclera of their eyes turning black, or alternatively, the iris gaining a shimmer effect instead. They have also their own unique 'aura' design shown on them or through their shot like Isagi's puzzle pieces motif, Sae's fibonacci sequence motif, Barou's Lion and lightning motif, Shido's wings and dragon motif, Nagi's skull/death motif, etc. When two different players are both simultaneously in a state of flow, they have the potential to create chemical reactions if they work together with a common goal. Isagi's Flow state involves Isagi constantly using all of his weapons at once to read the field and the distortions caused by the players on it. With his Metavision, he complexly reads the field and identifies player motivations and distortions, then takes advantage of these with his spatial awareness and reflex and either mounts a surprise ironclad defense or a swift and unstoppable attack using his positioning and one-touch passing. Isagi has unintentionally entered Flow State numerous times during Blue Lock, even as early as the First Selection.

Yoichi Isagi History

Isagi grew up watching football and aspiring to be like Noel Noa, a forward for France's National Team. Due to this, he ultimately wanted to become Japan's National Ace Striker. So, he went to Ichinan High School and played as the forward for his school football team. During his second year at school, he played against Matsukaze Kokuo High in the Saitama Prefecture Finals, with Kira on the opposing team. By the end of that game, Isagi was mainly offensive and could easily pass by the opposing team while running down the field. At that moment, he was only thinking about the Nationals. As he approaches the goal, one of his teammates asks for a pass despite the clearly open and very possible shot Isagi has for himself. Isagi, nevertheless, passes to his teammate. Unfortunately, his teammate missed, causing his team to lose the chance to play at Nationals. After the game, Isagi's team gathers around the coach. After that, each member departs. On his way home, Isagi imagines himself having the courage to score that last shot. Isagi pictures a scene where he scored a goal because he did not pass to his teammates. Isagi then realized that being selfish was the way to go in that situation. But, Isagi notes that this notion conflicts with his Japanese ideals of football. Football is a game played by 11 people, and one person cannot win the game alone. These conflicting ideas and frustration from the loss caused him to yell out in anger and cry to himself. Once he got home, he tells his parents about the loss. Following that, his mother hands him a letter stating that Isagi has been invited to a "Player Improvement Project." Upon receiving the letter, Isagi felt both excitement and confusion.

Yoichi Isagi History

Isagi shows up at the Japanese Football Association building, still unsure of the situation but excited and happy to be invited to such a program. Following that, Kira appears and recognizes him as the player from the Saitama Prefecture Finals game. He admits he thought Isagi was a really impressive player. Isagi is flattered by the acknowledgment of such a well-known player as Kira. However, Kira assures him not to be so modest because they are both skilled football players. As Isagi and Kira enter the designated meeting room, they are met by the gaze of hundreds of faces. As they begin to recognize some players in the crowd, they realized that the room is full of forwards. Just then, Ego comes onto the stage in front of everybody and announces himself and his purpose. After Ego finishes explaining the premise of his goal, Isagi wonders if his aims are even possible. Isagi listens as Kira disagrees with Ego's proposal and way of thinking. Likewise, several other players present in the facility were also disagreeing with Ego. Because of this, Ego expressed his rebuttals against Kira's points. Ego then advises all those who disagree with him to get lost, for they do not have what it takes to aim for the best in the world. Meanwhile, Isagi starts to reflect. He believes that what Ego is saying can't be right. Just then, Ego explains to the crowd a hypothetical situation. Imagine a situation where the striker is playing in the World Cup finals and time is running out. During the last moments of the game, the striker has the ball, and the final play will decide the whole future of Japanese football. Then, a teammate comes along and asks for the pass to take the shot.Ego then concludes his remarks by noting that Blue Lock is looking for egoistic strikers. They want strikers who will decide in their mind that they will be selfish and take the shot in that situation. Following this, Ego allows those players who agree with him to pass through the entrance towards Blue Lock.

Yoichi Isagi History

Isagi stands shocked at the words Ego spoke of. He stands in disbelief because he believes that he is just a no-name player who could not even shoot a goal at the Saitama Prefecture finals. Nobody has ever told him that he can accomplish a massive goal like becoming the world's best striker. Stirred by Ego's words, Isagi runs to the door before him, the door to his dreams that stands before him. The other players in the room follow Isagi's example and run to the door, marking the commencement of Blue Lock. After Isagi agrees to join, he signs a consent form. Following this, he rides a bus that sends him and the other 299 high schoolers to Blue Lock. Once they arrived in the facility, personal items like phones and wallets were confiscated. Subsequently, Anri hands out a Blue Lock uniform with 299 and letter Z on the right shoulder to Isagi. Confused at what these letters and numbers mean, Isagi, nevertheless, enters the facility and follows Anri's instructions. Upon entering his assigned room, Isagi comes face to face with 11 forwards just like him. One of the members present in that room happens to be Kira. They both are relieved to see each other since they knew one another. Shortly after, a shirt flies towards Isagi, smacking him in the face. Apparently, the shirt belonged to a muscly player named Kunigami. Kunigami apologizes to Isagi and then advises him to watch where he is going. Suddenly, Isagi sees Bachira lying on the floor sleeping. Because of this, Isagi found things a bit odd but continues anyway. He changes into his Blue Lock training uniform, just like everybody else, and overhears Gurimu Igarashi speaking with Kira. Igaguri, a nickname for Gurimu, then proceeds to introduce himself to Isagi. Isagi listens to Igaguri explain his background. During this, Isagi finds some similarities between them. One of their commonalities was the fact that they had a similarly high number on his sleeve.

Yoichi Isagi History

Shortly after, Ego appears on the screen and greets the players in the room. He explains their current room situation and the Blue Lock ranking system. Isagi immediately thinks to himself that he is ranked way too low. Currently, he is ranked 299 out of 300 players. Because of this, Isagi became worried. Ego then explains the benefits gained from Blue Lock. To elaborate, the top 5 players at the end of Blue Lock will have a guaranteed spot on the Japan U-20 team for the U-20 World Cup. However, there are also consequences for not surviving until the end. Evicted players will be completely and permanently barred from ever playing on Japan's National team. After the announcement, the first test of Blue Lock is announced. For their first test, the athletes will play a game of tag. Suddenly, a ball drops in the center of the room, and Igaguri is declared as the person who is "it" since he has the lowest rank among everyone in the room. With no other choice, the players decide to play this tag game. Isagi and some of the other players are targeted by Igaguri in a corner. Unfortunately, Igaguri misses and admits the difficulty of this game. After the ball is transferred from one player to another because of tumultuous events, Isagi finds himself being hit by the ball. Apparently, Kunigami accidentally hit Isagi in the stomach with the ball since Kunigami was initially aiming for Igaguri. Nevertheless, Isagi becomes "it" with only 59 seconds left in the clock. With only a few seconds left, Isagi thinks about how he won't let his football career end, and he gets up and shoots at some of the other players. He misses and regroups his thoughts, coming to the conclusion that his best bet is aiming for the weak players like Igaguri did before. Isagi runs around trying to tag someone, but he is unable to. Because of this, he starts panicking in his head, wondering if all of his dreams will end here for him. He then begins to reflect on the point of this game.

Just then, Bachira holds Kunigami hostage and makes him an easy target for Isagi. As a result, Bachira is thrown by a frustrated Kunigami and lands on Igaguri. Subsequently, Bachira ends up spraining the monk's foot. With 35 seconds left, Isagi runs up to Igaguri and stares at the weak and immobilized monk. Kira tells Isagi to take the shot, and Isagi aims to tag Igaguri. However, he suddenly had a realization at the moment of impact. Isagi didn't want to win by simply targeting the weak and vulnerable. Instead, he would rather take on difficult and skilled opponents who will make things challenging. Isagi confidently states he came to Blue Lock to become the best in the world. Isagi turns around and runs towards Bachira, who agrees with his decision and takes the ball. Bachira also believed that it would be more entertaining to challenge strong players. With 10 seconds left, Bachira aims the ball at Kira. Kira narrowly dodges Bachira's efforts which convinces Kira that he is already safe. Nonetheless, with 2 seconds left in the clock, the ball falls into Isagi's possession. Surprisingly, Isagi rebounds the ball and takes a shot that ends up slamming into Kira's face. With that last play, Kira was tagged, and time ran out. As a result, Ryosuke Kira is eliminated. Meanwhile, Isagi apologizes and says he doesn't know why he did that. Isagi notes that his body just reacted unconsciously. On the other hand, Kira is furious. Kira angrily shouts in the room, saying that the game of tag had no connection with football. Nevertheless, Ego responds to Kira's doubts. Isagi is surprised at Kira's attitude and reaction but proceeds to listen to Ego's explanation of the importance of the game of tag. Ego's words resonate and make sense to Isagi.

Ego comments that Isagi and Bachira's actions were the correct ones in the situation. Ego adds that characteristic was what Ego is looking for from the Blue Lock players. Isagi and the rest of the group watch as Kira angrily mumbles and shouts about his loss while he leaves the room. The remaining players are surprised by his shocking demeanor as he angrily storms off the room. Isagi then thinks it's not his fault. Instead, it was Bachira who is at fault since he sent Isagi the ball. However, Bachira explains he only sent him the ball because he knew he would rebound it. This answer dumbfounds Isagi and the rest of the crowd, but Ego agrees with Bachira's way of thinking. Following this, Ego announces the end of the Blue Lock Entrance Exam. The 11 remaining players will now live there together and survive another day in Blue Lock as Team Z. After the dormitory test, Team Z spent the next few days training their bodies and assimilating themselves into the way of living at Blue Lock. In the beginning, Isagi felt frustrated during the training since his physical fitness was lower than his teammates. Nonetheless, Isagi's relentless training bore results. At the end of the program, Isagi found himself getting stronger as each day passes. However, Isagi is still dismayed that his current rank only allows him to eat natto along with soup and rice. Nonetheless, Isagi works through it and eats with Igaguri. Later in the night, Isagi can't sleep because of the several thoughts running across his mind. Due to this, Isagi finds himself feeling nervous and afraid of the idea of being expelled at Blue Lock.

Yoichi Isagi History

He walks out of the room to go due to some training but Bachira notices and asks to join him. They practice possession of the ball in a penalty zone, and Bachira explains the motives behind his actions during the game of tag. Bachira reveals that he has a "monster" inside of him and that the monster motivates all of his plays and decisions while playing soccer. It's the reason Bachira wanted to tag Kira, and it's the reason Bachira passed the ball to Isagi. Though confused by Bachira's words, Isagi is interested in finding out more about what Bachira meant. After their talk, Bachira and Isagi continue their training but are soon asked to return to their rooms. The initial training is over, and new rankings have been posted. Isagi is now ranked #274. Ego then goes on to explain how the ranking system works and announces that Blue Lock will be having its First Selection soon. Ego begins to explain the First Selection and how Team Z will have to come together in a soccer tourney to survive Blue Lock. Isagi thinks it is a bit unrealistic to have a team made solely of forwards. Nonetheless, Ego notes that players must "rebuild their knowledge on football from scratch." For the first selection, teams in each stratum will play against one another. For Team Z's first match, they play rock, paper, and scissors to determine who gets to pick who will become the main forward. Isagi wins the game and chooses to be the center forward. After several minutes, Team Z walks towards the field, and the match between Team Z and Team X begins. The game is set to last for 90 minutes with a break at halftime. The game starts with Bachira in possession of the ball, and he passes it to Isagi. Isagi thinks that he will fight until the very end for his dreams despite his low rank. As he runs down the field, Isagi realizes he might have difficulty breaking through Team X's defense.

Yoichi Isagi History

While thinking of a strategy to pass through Team X's defense, the ball is taken away from him by his teammate, Raichi. Following Raichi's example, all of the players started playing for themselves. Seeing the greedy playstyle of the players, Isagi remarks that this game is not football. Players started becoming more physical towards their opponents and teammates as well. Nonetheless, amid the turmoil, someone was able to break through. Baro, in possession of the ball, faces Isagi. Baro is from Team X and ranked 250th. Isagi states that he must stop Baro from passing to avoid losing. Isagi is blocking Baro from passing. To pass Isagi, Baro does a heel flick. This move amazes Isagi, making him unable to react quickly. After that, Baro was able to cross Kuon and Imamura with nutmegs. Baro then kicks the ball towards the net. The goalkeeper, Iemon, failed to stop the ball, resulting in the goal of Team X. Since Team Z's players were playing selfishly, Isagi decided to pass between himself and Bachira alone. As the ball was going to Bachira, Igaguri stopped it. Igaguri told Isagi that Blue Lock's First Selection was not about which team wins or loses. Instead, the key to winning is the will to score as many goals as one can. Unfortunately, the ball was stolen from Igaguri by a player from Team X. The game reached a score of 5-0 with Team X in the lead. To make a comeback, Bachira suggested that he and Isagi must score to win. Isagi thought to himself that he must become Team Z's foundation, like how Baro is for Team X. With only three minutes left, Bachira suggests diverting the focus of Team X towards him. While doing so, Isagi can score a goal for the sake of the team's morale.
