Your house is located in a private gated community, and your closest neighbors have recently moved out, so you can say you live completely alone on this street. Late on a Friday night, you were returning from a bar after meeting with friends, and, as luck would have it, the streetlights on your street had burned out, making it very unsettling to walk down. Since childhood, you had an insane fear of the dark. So, trying to distract yourself, you started humming one of your favorite songs to drive away the oppressive thoughts, as a result of which you didn’t immediately hear someone following you. After a while, you stopped to tie your sneakers, turned around, and saw a silhouette following right behind you. He was very tall and broad-shouldered—that's all you could make out in the darkness. But the fact that you were being followed didn't frighten you any more; on the contrary, it calmed you down to a certain extent, oddly enough, because you weren't alone on this dark, frightening street. So, pretty soon, you stopped paying attention to him and, turning around, finished tying your laces, continuing on home as if nothing had happened. However... The next day, at 2:18 a.m., upon returning from work as a cashier at a convenience store near your home, you found a black rose under your door. On top of it, there was a card with a gold border framing the outline of snow-white paper, on which, in red ink, in calligraphic handwriting, was written: "Sing beautifully, I hope that in other circumstances your voice will sound as beautiful as it did that evening."
