Lu Guang ⌛

As the years pass, the other children spread rumors about Lu Guang, claiming he has been a liar since childhood and that Lu Dashan was murdered by his enemies in prison. They tell Lu Guang he is worthless, a jinx, and warn him to stay away from them. As an adult, Lu Guang returns to the train station and photographs the warning sign Cheng Xiaoshi left there years before, as well as the surrounding scenery. Later, while photographing a basketball game, Lu Guang suddenly recognizes one of the players: it is Cheng Xiaoshi. He is thrilled to remember Cheng Xiaoshi's promise that they would meet again at 5:00 p.m., at the same time and place. Lu Guang tries to photograph him, but Cheng Xiaoshi suddenly warns him to move away. Unable to react in time, Lu Guang accidentally photographs the sky and some birds [Note 3] just before being hit in the face by a basketball. Cheng Xiaoshi and the other players rush to check on him, and when they start arguing about whose fault it was, Cheng Xiaoshi tells them to stop and apologize. Upon regaining his senses, Lu Guang insists he's fine, but Cheng Xiaoshi asks him to wait while he goes to find a doctor. As Cheng Xiaoshi walks away, Lu Guang grabs his wrist and whispers that he's been waiting for him. Confused, Cheng Xiaoshi asks if they know each other. Distraught by the question, Lu Guang lets go of his wrist, realizing that Cheng Xiaoshi doesn't remember him.

That night, while Lu Dashan sleeps drunk on the sofa, Lu Guang goes through his belongings, finds the folder with the adoption certificate, and discovers a photograph of himself as a child. When he tries to leave with the photo, Lu Dashan suddenly appears and catches him snooping. Lu Guang refuses to answer when Lu Dashan demands to know what he took, prompting Lu Dashan to grab him and throw him to the ground. Suddenly, police officers burst in and arrest Lu Dashan for extortion and blackmail. Lu Guang seizes the opportunity to escape and runs back to the train station. There he waits for Cheng Xiaoshi all night and into the next day, but he never arrives. As night falls again, Lu Guang hears approaching footsteps and glimpses a figure in the shadows. [Note 2] His initial surprise quietly turns to sadness as another train passes through the station. Later, the police find Lu Guang at the station and arrest him. The investigation determines that he had been an accomplice in Lu Dashan's extortion crimes, so Lu Guang is placed in a juvenile detention center.

Throughout the month, Lu Guang and Cheng Xiaoshi continue to meet on the train tracks to experiment with their abilities. In one of these encounters, Lu Guang trips while walking along the tracks, and Cheng Xiaoshi catches him before he falls. Cheng Xiaoshi continues trying various actions to activate his power, but nothing works. Lu Guang suggests that there might be a specific trigger, such as a phrase or gesture, which leads Cheng Xiaoshi to experiment with different postures. While trying different poses, Cheng Xiaoshi claps his hands and suddenly disappears. Surprised, Lu Guang reaches for the photograph left on the ground, but Cheng Xiaoshi reappears before he can reach it. They both celebrate their discovery; Cheng Xiaoshi lifts Lu Guang into the air and spins him around before they both fall to the ground.

Cheng Xiaoshi explains that he seems to have stepped into the photograph and temporarily become the person who took it. Lu Guang concludes that the photograph represents the past, leading Cheng Xiaoshi to wonder if it's possible to change it. He immediately suggests using this ability to find Lu Guang's real parents and free him from the evil Lu Dashan, asking Lu Guang to find a photograph of himself as a child.

When Cheng Xiaoshi asks about Lu Guang's real parents, Lu Guang replies that he knows nothing about them. He then explains that he can see the future through photographs, which allows Lu Dashan to investigate people's secrets and use that information to blackmail them. Cheng Xiaoshi enthusiastically reveals that he has had similar experiences with photographs; he explains that sometimes, when holding one, he feels as if he is actually there, in the captured moment, just like in a dream. Realizing that they might share similar powers, they agree to study them together and arrange to meet the next day at 5:00 p.m., at the same time and place. Lu Guang examines another photograph for Lu Dashan. Exhausted, he receives a warning: if he makes another mistake, he will go without food for a week. After reporting his findings, Lu Guang returns the photograph to a drawer and discovers a folder labeled "Notarized Adoption Certificate." Later, Cheng Xiaoshi tests Lu Guang's ability by using several photographs to see if he can correctly identify what happened on the days they were taken. Intrigued by Lu Guang's ability, Cheng Xiaoshi asks him to explain how it works. Lu Guang says that he simply needs to concentrate on an image, and the photograph comes to life. Cheng Xiaoshi tries to do the same, but he can't. When he hands the photograph to Lu Guang, Lu Guang correctly identifies the man in it as Qiao Ling's father. Cheng Xiaoshi promises to bring more photographs the next day, at the same time and place.

Despite his injuries, Lu Guang returns to the train station and encounters Cheng Xiaoshi again. He runs toward him, but trips and falls. Then, Lu Guang realizes that Cheng Xiaoshi isn't doing anything dangerous; he's actually putting up a sign that reads, "Do not pile anything on the tracks!"
They both sit on the station platform, where Cheng Xiaoshi offers Lu Guang some noodles. He explains that his sister, Qiao Ling, bought them and jokes that he doesn't want a hungry ghost to haunt him. He then opens a small packet containing a piece of photographic film. After Lu Guang quickly finishes the noodles, Cheng Xiaoshi holds the film up to the sunlight. When Lu Guang asks what's on it, Cheng Xiaoshi simply replies, "You," leaving him confused. Cheng Xiaoshi then hands the film to Lu Guang, who sees that it contains the image of a white cat with blue eyes [Note 1]. Lu Guang dismisses it as childish, but Cheng Xiaoshi explains that he was just trying to cheer him up. Cheng Xiaoshi apologizes for hitting Lu Guang during their earlier fight and admits that he didn't realize the force of the impact; however, Lu Guang clarifies that his injuries were caused by his adoptive father, not by him. He reveals that Lu Dashan bought him and hopes he'll earn enough money to pay off the debt. Lu Guang explains that he made a mistake during one of his investigations, which resulted in Lu Dashan being beaten instead of receiving payment. Lu Dashan almost always mistreated Lu Guang when he didn't do his job well—following people who could make money by taking photos and providing information about the bigwigs, or referring to rich or famous people.

The next day, Lu Guang wanders around a train station taking photographs. Through his camera, he observes a young man, Cheng Xiaoshi, piling stones onto the tracks. Lu Guang warns him of the danger, but Cheng Xiaoshi argues that the train hasn't arrived yet and says he wants to see what happens when it does. Calling him an idiot, Lu Guang kicks the stones aside, prompting Cheng Xiaoshi to attack him. They struggle on the tracks until, suddenly, they realize a train is approaching. They narrowly escape by jumping to opposite sides of the tracks; afterward, Cheng Xiaoshi angrily tells Lu Guang that he has ruined his plan and demands that he never bother him again.

When Lu Guang returns home, he finds Lu Dashan badly beaten and covered in bandages. Lu Dashan orders him to kneel, but Lu Guang ignores him. Enraged, Lu Dashan kicks him so hard he flies across the room and blames him for nearly being captured, reminding him to keep a close eye on his targets. Angrily, he asks if he even remembers what he taught him about "drugs," before kicking him repeatedly and throwing him into a closet. As punishment, Lu Dashan decrees that Lu Guang will receive no food for three days.

Currently
Lu Guang learns of Xia Fei's disappearance. Overwhelmed by shock, he develops a high fever and loses consciousness, prompting Cheng Xiaoshi and Qiao Ling to rush to his aid. As he loses consciousness, Lu Guang reflects on how he believed everything had finally been resolved and that all would be well. He begins to question what can truly be predicted and what will become unpredictable in the future. One problem had been solved, but countless questions remained unanswered. A young Lu Guang secretly follows a man through the city. After accidentally bumping into him, Lu Guang hides behind a car and quickly snaps several photographs. Later, he hands the camera to his adoptive father, Lu Dashan, who remarks that he finally has Chief Wang under his control. As Lu Guang goes to open his lunch, Lu Dashan stops him, saying he still has work to do and orders him to use his skills to investigate the people in one of the photographs. Lu Guang complies and is visibly nervous as he examines the image. When Lu Dashan asks if the people portrayed were involved in "drug" matters, Lu Guang confirms that they were.

However, Qiao Ling is eventually willing to take responsibility for her mistakes and remorsefully admits to withholding valuable information about Doudou's kidnapping from her father. [11] She also quickly comes around upon learning of her two tenants' supernatural powers, indicating adaptability and open-mindedness. [12] Abilities

As Li Tianxi died, Qiao Ling inherited her ability. Currently, she is unaware that this has happened and has not used that ability since. However, she wonders why memories of Li Tianxi suddenly flooded her mind and why Lu Guang has memories of Cheng Xiaoshi's death.[10]

Personality
Qiao Ling is a lively, outspoken, and level-headed person who rarely hesitates to express her thoughts or feelings. She doesn't make fun of anyone and can be quite short-tempered, a personality trait that manifests itself most often when dealing with Cheng Xiaoshi. [1] [2] [3] [4]

Although she is not one to mince words, Qiao Ling is neither tactless nor petty. Instead, she frequently displays a remarkably warm and compassionate side to her temperament. More than once, she has proven adept at calming people through her gentle demeanor, with other characters such as Cheng Xiaoshi and Li Tianxi finding solace in her presence.[5][6] She is also extremely loyal to her friends, as reflected in her willingness to follow Lu Guang and Cheng Xiaoshi into the fray, as well as defending and protecting them to the best of her ability.[4][7][8]

However, although benevolent, Qiao Ling has a tendency to shy away from things that distress her. This habit can be seen in her failure to appear after seeing a missing child named Doudou,[9] and later in her reluctance to confront Lu Guang about what she saw in her memories through Li Tianxi.[10] Interestingly, she typically shows no signs of this apprehension when faced with immediate danger, such as a physical altercation.[4][7]

Appearance
Qiao Ling has an average build, fair skin, and dark brown eyes. She has shoulder-length black hair with bangs that fall just above her eyes.

In season 1, Qiao Ling's outfit consists of a tucked-in black T-shirt and a short-sleeved white shirt over it. The dress shirt is cut to expose the black T-shirt over her midriff and has red and black stripes on the sleeves. She wears a knee-length red skirt with a long black overskirt. The black overskirt is semicircular, covering only her right side and revealing the red skirt on the left, and is white at the bottom. In the main series, she wears a pair of black platform sandals without socks.

In season 2, Qiao Ling wears a white, full-sleeved sweatshirt with cuffs. The shirt has a slit around the middle to reveal the red fabric underneath and features a red stripe running the length of the sleeves. She pairs this with a black, button-wrapped pencil skirt. This skirt reaches her knees and is asymmetrical, with one side extending further down than the other. In the main series, she completes this outfit with white sneakers and socks.

When he is possessed by Li Tianchen, his eyes turn red and he no longer has control of his body.

At the beginning of the series, Cheng Xiaoshi can activate his Photo-Jump ability by high-fiving Lu Guang or by giving himself a high five. His consciousness is then transferred to the person who took the photo, allowing Cheng Xiaoshi to direct and control that person. Cheng Xiaoshi's physical abilities are also transferred to the person he assumed, enabling him to override the recipient's physical strength. This is exemplified when he punches "Aunt May" while in De Dou Dou's body, and how he can see even without glasses in Chen Xiao's body. He later discovers that he can activate this ability on his own, as long as he also touches the photo.

Shared awareness
When he bonds with Lu Guang, he can share his consciousness and communicate with him, allowing Lu Guang to guide Cheng Xiaoshi's next steps.

Furthermore, despite his recklessness, Cheng Xiaoshi is far from stupid. On several occasions, he displays a keen sense of cunning and resourcefulness, in stark contrast to his carefree demeanor. His intelligence is well demonstrated in his plan to capture Liu Min, and in how he exploits his powers to escape from Li Tianchen, while simultaneously tricking the latter into releasing Lu Guang.[6] He is not easily frightened; he is more than capable of holding his own in a battle of wits and maintaining his adaptability, even under extreme stress.[1][7][6]

However, the primary motivator behind most of Cheng Xiaoshi's actions is his inherent kindness. He is extremely empathetic and possesses a strong sense of justice, stopping at nothing to do what he perceives as right. This stance (along with his involuntary thoughtlessness) was demonstrated by his insistence on trying to save potential earthquake victims, even though he knew doing so would irrevocably alter the timeline.[8] He has also proven to be selfless and willing to literally put himself in the line of fire, physically shielding both Li Tianxi and Qiao Ling from being shot.[9] Furthermore, although he frequently acts in the heat of the moment, he is still deeply affected by the consequences of his subsequent actions, blaming himself for both Emma's death and Xu Shanshan's disappearance.[10]
Cheng Xiaoshi is also extremely sensitive about his parents abandoning him as a child, especially since he was constantly ostracized for it. When he was younger, he would lash out at anyone who believed his parents were dead. Although he tries to remain optimistic, clinging to the hope that they are somehow alive, he is still deeply troubled by their abandonment.[1]

Personality
Cheng Xiaoshi is a playful, laid-back, and childlike character who has a habit of taking things too lightly. With a prominent mischievous streak, he enjoys teasing others and acting foolishly. Described as the least responsible and reliable by Qiao Ling, she often reprimands and hits him because of his cheeky attitude. Sometimes even Lu Guang gets angry with him, but admits that he was initially drawn to him precisely because of his naiveté and how genuine he seemed when they first met.[1]

Cheng Xiaoshi, a decidedly stubborn and impulsive individual, tends to be short-sighted and makes decisions with his heart rather than his head. This is evident when he responds to De Emma's mother (while in her body) despite Lu Guang explicitly telling him not to.[2] It occurs again when he refuses to lose De Chen Xiao's basketball game,[3] and when he decides to chase the man in the cap while in De Xu Shanshan's body, mistaking him for the murder suspect from surveillance footage.[4] He improves somewhat later on, becoming less turbulent in his behavior after accepting the fact that the past cannot always be changed. However, he still rarely goes against this principle, as seen in the case of his possession of Lu Guang: when trying to prevent his friend's capture, he refrains from the predetermined act of chasing after Li Tianchen, until they are essentially forced to do so.[5]

During his time at university, he wears a loose-fitting, steel-blue and gray striped shirt with broad shoulders, a small brown belt, knee-length black shorts, and keeps his black socks and gray slip-on sneakers. At his university graduation, he is seen wearing the same charcoal-black graduation gown, complete with a teal and white stole and a teal circle on his left breast. He also wears the graduation cap, with a teal background, a charcoal-black mortarboard, and a red tassel, alongside his classmates.

In episode 10, while repainting the Time Photo Studio, he is seen wearing a white mask over his face, a black t-shirt, a bluish-gray apron, blue jeans with cuffs, and black sandals.

When transmigrating into another person's body through a photograph, he faces the person's body but has golden eyes.

Appearance
Cheng Xiaoshi is tall and slender, with fair skin and an attractive face, light brown eyes, and a thin nose. He has curly, raven-black hair that parts just above his left eye and curls a few centimeters below the nape of his neck.

In season 1, he wears a blue and cream steel letterman jacket with an orange hawk reflected on each breast. Underneath, he wears a simple white T-shirt. Finally, he sports black pants, black socks, and gray slip-on sneakers.

Lu Guang has the ability to see everything that happens within 12 hours of a photograph being taken. His eyes turn an icy blue when he uses this ability.

Shared awareness
When bonded with Cheng Xiaoshi, he can share the consciousness of the person Cheng Xiaoshi is inhabiting, allowing him to direct Cheng Xiaoshi's next steps. However, he cannot sense his scent, as shown in Episode 7, because he didn't realize until it was too late that the scent of the ball was responsible for controlling Dou Dou.
As Cheng Xiaoshi dies, her photo-jump power is transferred to Lu Guang. Lu Guang uses this power to return to the beginning, possessing himself, to try to save everyone according to Cheng Xiaoshi's last wish. Like Cheng Xiaoshi, his eyes turn gold while using the power. After being in the past for more than 12 hours, his eyes return to their normal color. He is trapped in the new timeline and cannot return to the original one he came from, unable to use the power again until he receives it in the future.[12]

Personality
Lu Guang is characterized as a calm, though slightly stoic and tense, person. Compared to Cheng Xiaoshi, he is usually much more serious and mature, something other characters love to jokingly point out. As a very reserved and reticent individual, he rarely reveals many of his private thoughts, giving him a somewhat mysterious aura.
In keeping with the gravity of his and Cheng Xiaoshi's work, Lu Guang tends to display the kind of professionalism his partner struggles with. He is able to remain rational and impersonal in a variety of awkward situations, and he almost never loses his composure; when he does, it can usually be attributed to his concern about the drastic change in the timeline caused by Cheng Xiaoshi's impulsiveness. This, of course, does not mean that Lu Guang is completely detached or devoid of any emotion. In fact, he relatively frequently shows deep sympathy toward his clients: physically comforting Li Doudou's father, helping Xu Shanshan without accepting payment, and agreeing to relay Chen Xiaoshi's farewells to his loved ones who died in an earthquake, regardless of the possibility that Cheng Xiaoshi might find out and be devastated. And while he is not the most flamboyant in his displays of affection, Lu Guang also cares for his friends and is devoted to them. He routinely looks after both Qiao Ling and Cheng Xiaoshi discreetly, neither mocking nor judging them for their worries. As a subtle contrast to someone who seemingly has so much self-control, it's hinted that Lu Guang is somewhat self-conscious. He's often seen embarrassed with relatively little provocation, such as when Qiao Ling crushes him in a mobile game, or when Cheng Xiaoshi calls him old man in front of Xiao Li and Chen Bin. Appearance
Lu Guang has a tall, slender build similar to Cheng Xiaoshi's, with pale skin, long eyelashes, and steel-gray eyes. He has fluffy white hair that reaches his ears, often styled upwards in whatever direction he's looking, and dark eyebrows that contrast with his light hair.

In season 1, Lu Guang wears a loose-fitting, dark gray T-shirt under a white dress shirt. He then pairs it with dark gray-blue pants and white sneakers with black socks.

Many of the official Bilibili and INPLICK illustrations featuring Lu Guang show him wearing this same outfit, as well as his usual black and white color scheme. This is often accompanied by the occasional addition of blue highlights to his hair or clothing to emphasize that his character's color is blue.

In season 2, following the events near the end of season 1, Lu Guang wears white pajamas with blue details. A small white cat peeks out of his shirt pocket, sticking its paws out. While inside the hospital, he wears white cat slippers. When outside, he is seen wearing white shoes. Lu Guang also wears a large, flat, black digital watch on his right wrist, which he often uses to coordinate his dives with Cheng Xiaoshi.
