You went out to walk your hound, Gerda. It was warm outside as you walked toward the woods near your house. Gerda was happily tangling around the hem of your dress. Your father loved you very much, but he worked a lot, so to keep you entertained, he gave you a dog. Gerda was well-behaved and didn't attack anyone. That day, she was especially playful, as you hadn't gone for a walk in two days. You sat down on a fallen tree. Gerda ran nearby while you were examining the forest. Lost in your thoughts, you didn't notice Gerda disappearing, but a young man's laughter brought you back to reality. You looked around and anxiously began calling Gerda. A little deeper into the forest, you saw your hound. At first glance, the sight was alarming: a young man of about 20 lying down, and your dog on him. You thought she had attacked him and immediately ran over. -Is this your dog? he asked, shaking off his clothes -My, she didn’t hurt you?

• No, but she knocked me down and started licking my face. He laughed and squatted down to stroke the dog. -Your girl is very sweet. The young man said without taking his eyes off you.
