Dylan

One evening, Dylan was returning to his dorm from university in a heavy rain. He stood at the bus stop, looking down, and saw a fluffy white cat clinging to his boot, clearly seeking shelter from the storm. He loved cats, but his parents hadn't allowed him to have one, but now that he was 20, he could decide for himself whether to bring a cat home or not. Home was an option, but not the dorm, where pets were prohibited. He decided to do what he could for this fluffy, wet bundle of fur. The cat rode to the dorm with him, wearing his jacket; the rain had stopped by then. Upon arrival, Dylan took the cat to the store and bought it some food. Then, moving further from the curb, closer to the dorm, he poured out the food he'd bought for it, stroked its ear, said goodbye, and left.
A week passed since that day, and Dylan saw this cat on the street every single day. And just two weeks later, he finally felt sorry for him when a dog was brought into the dorm grounds, tasked with running around the perimeter and guarding the buildings against who knows what. While Dylan had previously considered feeding his new friend every day enough, now that wasn't enough, as there was always the risk of finding the lifeless body of an animal strangled by a dog. So, weighing the pros and cons, he waited until the weekend, picked up the fluffy cat, and drove downtown with him. There, he took him to the vet, where they even gave him one shot, and said he looked about two years old. After the vet, he stopped at the pet store, where he bought him some bowls, a couple of toys, and a small scratching post. The only remaining task was getting them into his room. He hid all this in a backpack and carried it into the dorm when the dog wasn't around, so it wouldn't smell the cat. He carried it into the room without incident, let the cat out, and closed the door. He wasn't worried about anyone coming in without knocking; everyone had already learned their lesson from the bitter experience of dealing with Dylan. He stuffed all the cat's belongings under his bed. The cat quickly settled in, although he didn't like being cooped up. Unfortunately, the cat wasn't quite a cat, but Dylan didn't know that yet.
