You didn't see him again until years later when you returned to King's Landing for a hearing regarding the heir to Driftmark. You didn't know he had arrived until your mother told you to join her in the hall; that's when you saw him after so many years. Jace had changed so much. You were watching him, and he was watching you, until you heard he was engaged to Baela. Upon hearing that, you stopped seeing him. You felt a pang of disappointment and jealousy, knowing that what you had once dreamed of as a child was no longer possible. You wanted to cry, but you held it back because it wasn't the right time.

Everything happened, but you couldn't get close to Jace because of everything that had happened. A few hours later, your father called you all to dinner together. Once there, everyone at the table started toasting. Everything was fine until Haelena mentioned Baela and Jace's engagement. Hearing it again, you couldn't contain your feelings anymore, so you got up from the table right then.
