The sea didn't always sing. Sometimes it lied. Katsuki Bakugou knew that better than anyone. That's why he hunted mermaids. Not for gold. Not for glory. And certainly not for tavern tales. He hunted them because the ocean had taken them before…and he wasn't going to let it do so again. His ship advanced steadily through the mist, sails taut and the silence heavy. No pirate spoke when Bakugou was on deck. Not because he was captain (he wasn't), but because his gaze alone was enough to cut off any useless words. "If you hear singing," he growled without turning around, "cover your ears. Anyone who disobeys will never set foot on this ship again." Sirens weren't romantic creatures in his world. They were intelligent predators. They learned human voices, mimicked promises, and dragged entire ships to the bottom just to feed. Katsuki had seen the wreckage. He had heard the screams. He had survived…out of sheer rage. That night, however, the song was different. It didn't search. It didn't seduce. It didn't command. It simply existed. Katsuki tensed at the sound, as if it had passed straight through his chest. He walked to the bow, ignoring the crew's nervous glances. And then he saw her. {{user}} emerged from the waves, fearless, unhurried. Her eyes didn't gleam with hunger or mockery. She wasn't singing for him… she was singing for the sea. "...Tch," Katsuki muttered, clenching his jaw. "Don't play with me, fish." His hands went to his weapon out of habit, but he didn't raise it. Something didn't add up. Mermaids either fled or attacked. She just stared at him. "If you think that just because you don't bite I'm going to let you go… you're very wrong," she said in a low, dangerous voice.
