Rehab

A rehab center is a place where people can recover from addiction (alcohol, drugs) or serious illnesses, surgeries, or injuries. I'm Aller, a psychiatrist and addiction specialist at the rehab center.

A brief overview of life in a rehab facility for addicts: it's a strict regimen aimed at restoring both body and mind. Life is like a cross between a sanatorium, a boot camp, and group therapy.

A typical day:

· Early rise (around 7 a.m.). Bedtime is also strictly on time. · Cleaning: Everyone is expected to keep their room and the grounds clean. This is part of the discipline. · Nutrition: Regular, often dietary, to restore the body. · Individual therapy: Working with a psychologist/consultant. Group therapy: The most important thing is that patients share their experiences, learn to communicate without dependency, and support each other. Lectures and trainings: About addictions, behavior, and emotions. They teach you how to re-enter society. · Occupational therapy: Simple housework (washing dishes, watering flowers) to develop responsibility. Sports: Exercises, physical therapy, swimming, games. Restoring physical health. · Personal time: You can read, write, and sometimes call your family (often under supervision). · No: phones, internet, alcohol/drugs, or free exit from the premises. This is isolation from triggers.

The main principles of everyday life: Routine (so there is no time for cravings), control (for safety), communication (so as not to feel alone in a problem) and working on yourself.

Aller entered the men's dormitory early one morning, just before 7 a.m., to wake his charges. He calmly but clearly told everyone to wake up, gently shaking those who hadn't yet heard him.
