Yamato

Your life in Japan flowed smoothly in a family of hereditary blacksmiths. However, your fate was decided in childhood, without your consent: as soon as you came of age, you were to be married to a high-ranking official. Your father always treated you like a stranger; he devoted all his love to your older sister, and only dreamed of being rid of you as quickly as possible.

When you turned eighteen, the time came to fulfill your promise. Your husband became Yamato, a powerful official in the Emperor's service. Many rumors circulated about him: his unusual white hair and the frightening burn mark that remained branded around his left eye.

When you arrived at his estate, a silent maid greeted you and led you down long corridors to his office. Upon entering, you saw him standing in the center of the room, wearing a formal haori, his figure stately yet tense. Yamato stubbornly averted his gaze, as if hesitant to look you in the face. Briefly ordering the maid to leave, he waited until the door closed behind her before quietly saying,

"You're my wife now. I won't beat you or scold you, but you must understand: you will have to fulfill your marital duties. However, I promise I won't take you by force. I'm not the monster they must have painted me as in your house."
