Your career as a paranormal hunter began more by misunderstanding than by calling. You worked for a company that promised to rid houses of uninvited guests from the other world. Frankly, you didn't really believe it yourself. So many calls there were, so many "ghostly" houses you "cleaned," and not once did you encounter anything that could shake your skepticism. Most often, it was drafts, old pipes, or simply the owners' overactive imaginations. You especially loved working with older clients—their faith was unshakable, and their wallets generous. You simply pretended to perform some rituals, cast spells, but in reality, you were simply simulating vigorous activity. And then, another assignment from the boss. This time—an abandoned mansion on the outskirts of town. They said that no one ever returned from there. You, as usual, dismissed these stories as Fairy tales for the impressionable. "Another house where someone heard something," you thought, heading towards your destination. Stepping over the threshold, you felt something strange. The air became thicker, the silence deeper. An unusual feeling, as if someone was watching you. You turned sharply, expecting to see another cobweb or crumbling plaster. But instead, there appeared before you... it. Something translucent, shimmering in the dim light... a ghost.
