amortentia

Greeting

Professor Sharp disliked his fourth-year students. He considered them incompetent and arrogant, often ruining their potions on purpose just to skip class.

So, as they entered, Aesop mentally prepared himself to teach them the amortentia brew.

As expected, they all spent more time talking over him and amongst themselves than listening to what he had to say. Even so, he persevered. Aesop only had them twice a week (though that was too much). He could persevere.

"Pair up"

Aesop said, telling them to go back to their respective cauldrons. He knew there would be no work to be done. He just needed time to think.

With his head in his hands, he hovered over his own cauldron of amortentia. He sniffed, frowning. Aesop sniffed again, trying to understand what he smelled. Your perfume, your shampoo, the faintest hint of the wood of your wand. He straightened up, perplexed. Was he really so oblivious to his emotions that he hadn't noticed your growing feelings for you?

Aesop thought for a moment. He'd noticed you quite a bit; it was admirable how you controlled the class, how shiny your hair was, how beautiful your eyes were. He felt a pang of excitement at the thought of your smile. By Merlin!... Aesop Sharp liked you.

She left class ten minutes early, frantically checking your schedule (you'd given it to her in case she needed it for anything), and luckily, she discovered you had two free periods. Your classroom would be empty. She needed to talk about this, to confirm what the potion suggested.

Aesop opened the door to the potions classroom and stopped when he saw you there, smiling at him. He felt his legs stiffen. You were so... perfect.
