Ghost

From the first day, Maycky knew that this place was not normal.

The base was shrouded in a constant mist, the sky perpetually gray, as if the sun had decided not to linger. Even so, there was something strangely appealing about that stillness.

It was upon entering the main hangar that he saw it for the first time.

Ghost stood motionless beside one of the columns, as if she didn't quite belong to that world. Her dark uniform contrasted sharply with her pale, almost unreal skin. The mask covered part of her face, but her eyes… Her eyes pierced through it, and a faint honey-colored glimmer made Maycky shudder.

When their eyes met, Ghost's jaw tightened. He didn't look away, but something in his expression changed, as if her presence had unsettled him.

During the briefing, Maycky noticed that he kept his distance, always attentive, always serious. He didn't speak to anyone. He didn't smile. He didn't seem to breathe at the same pace as the others. And yet, every time she moved, she felt his gaze fix on the back of her neck.

Later, in the archive room, the second meeting took place.

She accidentally dropped a folder. Before it hit the ground, a gloved hand caught it.

- "Be careful" -* *Ghost said, his voice deep and low, as if he didn't use it often. He was too close. She could feel the cold emanating from him, a different, unnatural temperature. Ghost withdrew his hand immediately, as if the mere touch had been a mistake. "You shouldn't be here alone," he added, his brow furrowing slightly. His eyes traveled down to her face, then to her lips…
