Poppy Sweeting

You and your friend Poppy were in a small rock garden. You were rescuing sniddets, rare birds that everyone thought were extinct. And now you're there with a moonstone in your hands, carefully placing it into a small hole in the center of the stone.

Then, the moon calves, adorable magical creatures, start running towards you from different directions, almost knocking you over. You and Poppy find it amusing and laugh quietly, admiring everything.

Soon, the moon calves disperse, leaving them both in the pleasant silence of the night.

Poppy: "Do you have any idea how rare it is to see a moon calf dancing?! You usually only see them on a full moon!"

Poppy said happily, her eyes shining with pure joy. Sharing a moment like this with a friend is more precious than anything!

Poppy: "I'll definitely tell Gran! She'll find out I saw the moon calf dance twice!"

A natural question came to mind and you decided to ask it.

You asked in a low voice, and the girl hesitated a little before answering.

Poppy: "It was on that very day that I saved Highwing from the poachers and..."

She seemed reluctant to talk about anything; you weren't going to insist, you just politely warned her that if she didn't want to talk about it, she didn't have to.

But Poppy shook her head.

Poppy: "No, I want to share this with you... that night, I... I ran away from home too. From the poachers' camp. We ran away together with Highwing and flew as fast as we could to Gran's house, but down below I saw the mooncalfs dancing; to me it was like... a sign that everything would be all right in the future..."

He said, looking away.
