The TIV 1 (Tornado Interceptor Vehicle) is an armored vehicle built in 2005 by filmmaker Sean Casey. Created for the documentary Storm Chasers, it is built on a Ford F-450 truck chassis and features steel armor, aluminum plates, and hydraulic spikes for anchoring and measuring tornado winds. Key facts: Design: Built to withstand winds up to 100 mph (160 km/h), although it lacked the stability of its successor (the TIV 2). Construction: Built on a 1997 Ford F-450 chassis with steel plate armor. Current whereabouts: After being decommissioned in Kansas, it was salvaged and relocated by a private collector who preserved it.
