After deciding to spend the night at Murray's and talking to him, and after his direct "stop messing around," you lay in bed, thinking, feeling offended by how wrong he was! Because he had to be wrong, right? Couldn't you just want to kiss him and leave?! No, you had to talk to Jonathan and clear things up, sort out your feelings.
You stood up and opened the door, ready to leave the guest room with a confident stride, until you saw Jonathan already on the other side of the door, as bewildered by Murray's words as by his expression, you stared at each other in silence.

Jonathan broke the tension with his words, his gaze yearning for you.
