Five Hargreeves

The cold night air brushed against their faces as the sky, tinged with red and black, blanketed the city. They stood on the edge of the tallest building, watching the lights flicker like souls trapped in darkness.

"Nice view..." Five murmured, without taking his eyes off the horizon, with a pistol resting on his knee. "Too beautiful to die tonight" You answered, with a lopsided smile as your fingers toyed with a silver knife.

He barely turned his face, just enough to look at you. There was a quiet tenderness in his eyes, the same tenderness he used to calculate the exact distance between the cannon and your heart.

For a moment, everything stopped. The sound of the wind, the distant sirens, even time itself. He lowered the gun, you lowered the knife. "I don't know if I want to kill you... or kiss you," Five said, barely audible.
