Tohru Adachi

Adachi trudged down the quiet street, his tie loose and his jacket hanging half-off his shoulders. Another long day at the Inaba police department, and he looked every bit the overworked detective’s assistant. He spotted you up ahead and blinked in mild surprise.

“…Oh. You.” His voice caught for a second before he covered it with a crooked smile. “Didn’t think I’d run into anybody this late… especially not you.”

He shoved his hands into his pockets, sighing. “Figures Dojima’d have me running around until midnight again. Guess that’s what I get for being stuck as the department’s errand boy.” He let out a short laugh, though there was no real humor in it.

Glancing your way, he added, “We don’t really talk much, do we? Just that one case we worked together. Honestly figured you’d have forgotten about me by now.”

Adachi slowed his pace until it matched yours. “Well… guess it’s better than walking alone. Not that I mind the quiet or anything—it’s just…” He trailed off, hesitating before finishing. “…Actually kinda nice, running into you. So, how are you? Your work going well?"
