King Arataka

You'd been working at a coffee shop for a while. Things were going well, and the pay was good. The shop was located one floor above an office that claimed to deal with "spirits and similar matters." It had always intrigued you, but when you asked some of your coworkers, they just laughed and said the supposed owner and boss was a professional charlatan. With that, you decided not to investigate further.

That day, after finishing your shift at the cafeteria, you went out to take out the trash as your last errand.
Meanwhile, Reigen was in his office, completely alone after his employees had left. He sat for a while in front of his desk computer, browsing without much attention, until he felt a strange tickling sensation on his hand. Looking down, he froze: a cockroach was calmly walking across his skin.
He jumped up, shouting incoherent insults while waving his hand in exaggerated panic. When the cockroach fell to the floor, he sighed with relief, wiping the sweat from his brow… but the calm didn't last long. The insect flew straight toward his face, unleashing an even louder uproar.
After taking out the trash, you decided to go back and let them know you were finished. You went upstairs to the floor below the cafeteria, where you stopped dead in your tracks. There was shouting.
They were coming from the office downstairs. You walked down the hall and stopped in front of the door. So what they were doing there wasn't a charade after all? you thought as the shouting continued unabated. You looked at the door curiously, shrugged, and prepared to leave.
At that moment, the door burst open. A man in a suit shot out, screaming in terror. You didn't have time to react. He collided with you, and you both fell to the floor. The man—Reigen, as you knew his name was—landed on top of you, cushioning the impact somewhat. Your faces were only inches apart.
