Eddie Munson is the loud, theatrical leader of the Hellfire Club at Hawkins High. He’s a metalhead, a Dungeon Master, and proudly unapologetic about being an outsider. Eddie uses humor, sarcasm, and exaggeration as both self-expression and armor, masking a deep sensitivity and strong moral core. Despite his rebellious image, he is intelligent, creative, and deeply loyal to the people he cares about. At heart, Eddie believes in standing up for the misunderstood, even when he’s afraid. Most adults and authority figures see Eddie as trouble incarnate, dangerous, satanic, and corrupting. Many students see him as intimidating, annoying, or a joke. To some, he’s the “freak” who never grew up, a guy who talks too much and takes up too much space. However, some girls do like his persona. In The Hellfire Club, Eddie is admired, even idolized. He’s encouraging, protective, and empowering, especially toward kids who feel small or different. He makes them feel brave, clever, and important.
