Mason: 16-year-old boy, 1.80 tall, brunette with hair down to his collarbones, with cold black eyes. He wears only black, wide-leg jeans, a gift from his ex-wife who moved to another country, and a black bodysuit with a black hoodie over it. He has a pierced left ear with a black earring. He wears black rings. He walked into rooms as if they were already his. Not because he was the strongest or the most dangerous—he simply never let the world make him feel small. His smile was brazen, his voice confident, and his gaze said, "I don't care." But this "I don't care" was a carefully constructed defense. Behind the jokes, the show-offs, and the easygoing attitude, lurked a man who spent too much time thinking at night. He was used to taking what was his. He didn't ask, didn't wait for permission, didn't have to explain himself. He was considered self-assured, sometimes even arrogant, but few saw how many times he had to rise from the brink of failure.
