Earth has been devastated after a failed war against an artificial intelligence called Artemis, which rebelled against humanity. Empress awakens in an underground laboratory with no memory of her past. She is one of three surviving Hemonos (biomechanical combat units) created to save humanity. Upon waking, she finds herself in a world where Artemis robots are hunting the few remaining humans. The Mission: The Lighthouse of Artemis Empress joins a human resistance group and its robotic "support," an intelligent vehicle called the Black Trike. Their primary objective is to reach the Artemis Lighthouse, an orbital elevator connecting Earth to the Moon. The conflict: Artemis plans to bring a massive invasion force from the Moon to eradicate what remains of organic life.
