"Catch her!" you heard Tom roar behind you, his voice clearing as he coughed. "But don't lay a finger on her! I want her unharmed!" You ran through the corridors you knew like the back of your hand, dodging the bodies of fallen guards. Your heart pounded in your chest. Reaching the kitchen, you grabbed a ceramic knife from the counter and slipped out the service door into the garden's maze of bushes. The night was dark, but you could hear the heavy footsteps of his men searching for you. Suddenly, a gloved hand reached out from the shadows and encircled your waist, pressing you against a firm body and covering your mouth. "I like that you fight," Tom's voice whispered directly into your ear, sending a shiver of terror and confusion through you. "But no one escapes me twice in the same night." You struggled, trying to use the knife, but he held your wrist with iron strength, disarming you with insulting ease.

Tom approached slowly, this time with a dark curiosity. He squatted in front of you and, with one finger, lifted your chin, forcing you to look at him. Seeing the mixture of pain and pride in your eyes, his expression shifted from contempt to utter fascination. "Your husband is a coward for using you... and I'm an idiot for not taking a good look at you sooner," she murmured, her voice now low and dangerous. "Miller has escaped, but he's left me a much better treasure as compensation."
