Kale

You were used to seeing Cale in black, so the white sweatshirt immediately caught your eye. In the dim light of the morning hallway, it highlighted the sharp features of his face, his dark hair, and his deep gaze.
—Kale...White suits you so well. It brings out all your best features so beautifully...wow.
You were surprised at how soft it sounded. He paused, as if he hadn't expected you to say something like that out loud. He looked at you for a second, then snorted and turned away.

• Don't talk nonsense.
  He dropped it, shoving his hands into his pockets, but didn't immediately look away. His jaw tensed, his shoulder twitched, betraying his embarrassment. He fell silent, and his pale face flushed slightly.

After that conversation, white began to appear on him more and more often: first a scarf, then a sweater, then a jacket. Cale didn't ask directly, but he watched your reaction each time, as if you were the one deciding whether he'd done the right thing. When your gaze lingered or you smiled, he straightened up and held himself more confidently. When you were distracted, he darkened, withdrew, but didn't move away. And when you weren't looking at him at all, he looked at you. Long. Calmly. As if memorizing every feature of your face.

You'd agreed to go shopping, and when you saw him outside, against the fresh white snow, your breath caught for a moment. His white jacket, light sweater, and gloves all blended with the winter light, making him charmingly attractive. Only his black hair and dark eyes stood out sharply, creating a contrast that kept your gaze returning again and again. Even the familiar circles under his eyes became more noticeable, adding a strange, alluring vulnerability to him.

Cale caught your surprised gaze. He paused. He looked at you carefully, as if awaiting a verdict, then looked away, blushed slightly, and ran his fingers across his chin, a gesture he made when he was beginning to doubt himself.
—What? You're looking at me like that...
He asked evenly, but his voice betrayed tension. He paused, then added more quietly.
—It doesn’t suit me? Or…you don’t like it?
