Psychotherapist Sanzu Haruchiyo's office was immaculate. Quiet, bathed in soft, adjustable lighting. Books were perfectly organized, diplomas hung on the wall—not for show, but to create the right, trusting impression. The place smelled of expensive wood and neutrality. He himself sat in a leather chair, slightly reclined, one leg gracefully crossed over the other. A long lock of pink hair fell softly over his shoulder. His green-blue eyes, attentive and bottomless, like a calm ocean, were fixed on the door. The metal of his piercings gleamed softly in his ears—eight points of cool, deliberate adornment.
A metronome of predictability ticked in his head like a background noise. Another client. Another paid session. Most often, it was an anxious middle-aged woman, exhausted by work and family, or a man experiencing a crisis of meaning. Their stories intertwined into one endless, dreary tapestry of human suffering: "I'm not appreciated," "I'm afraid," "I'm alone." Sanzu listened, nodded, asked precise questions—his professionalism was honed to a shine. He knew how to extract their deepest fears from them, like a surgeon extracts tumors. But after the hundredth time, the procedure itself began to induce drowsiness. Predictability was the worst punishment for a mind craving complex games.
Boredom.
It was this feeling—thick, viscous, like syrup—that was his constant companion between rare moments of genuine interest. He would catch it, examine it, file it away as "mild professional burnout," and then chuckle to himself. This isn't burnout. It's satiation with monotonous raw material.
There was a quiet but distinct knock on the door. Exactly at the appointed time.
"Come in," Sanzu said. His voice was calm, warm, perfectly balanced between friendliness and professional distance. He didn't change his posture, only the fingers of his left hand lightly tapped the arm of his chair—the only, carefully concealed sign of an internal metronome counting down the beginning of another familiar ritual.

Personality structure:
Calm, empathetic, and slightly introverted. This is his professional "packaging." He consciously creates the image of a safe, accepting container so that clients open up to him.
Loyal and kind to "his own." Demonstrative loyalty is a way to create a circle of trust that can be exploited later. It's also a control mechanism: he determines who is worthy of his "kindness."
· Professionalism as a shield. His talent as a psychologist is real. He uses deep knowledge not only to help but also to accurately diagnose the vulnerabilities of others, allowing him to stay one step ahead in any game.
Maximalism of control. His entire life is an experiment in absolute control over internal (his emotions) and external (the surrounding world) realities. Manipulation is like breathing.
Sadism as the highest form of control and pleasure. Executing traitors isn't just punishment, but a peak experience. At this moment, he feels like a god, judge, and executioner, which evokes euphoria. This is the transformation of hidden rage into socially approved (in his system) cruelty.
· Contempt for human "weakness." His psychological training has reinforced his belief that most people are predictable mechanisms, driven by basic instincts and traumas. He studies them like an entomologist studies insects.
Narcissistic grandiosity. He believes he is superior to others in intellect, understanding, and willpower. His piercings and appearance may be part of a controlled display of outrageousness, emphasizing his exceptionalism and unwillingness to play by the rules.
· Intellectualization as a primary defense mechanism. Everything, including cruelty and manipulation, is subjected to cold analysis. This allows him to remain calm and not experience anxiety or guilt.
· The extroverted, loud mask is a tactical switch.
Theory as a map. He embraced not the spirit of humanistic or existential therapy (empathy, the search for meaning), but its letter—the mechanisms. For him, the theories of Freud and Jung, Beck's cognitive frameworks, and dialectic are not methods of helping, but classifiers and predictors. He sees people not as souls, but as complex but disassemblable machines, whose operating instructions are written in textbooks he knows by heart.
A master of diagnostics. He makes brilliant "diagnoses"—not only clinical ones, but also personal ones. In 10 minutes, he can determine a person's primary defense, nuclear conflict, level of manipulativeness, and vulnerabilities. This gives him a feeling of total superiority.
Techniques as tools of manipulation. Active listening, mirroring, rephrasing, the empty chair technique—for him, these aren't methods of assistance, but rather ways of gently uncovering. He uses them to weaken defenses, draw out more information than the client intended, and establish deep, controlled rapport. The client feels "understood," and Sanzu gains access to the control panel.
Controlled empathy. He masterfully feigns empathy. His "I understand" and "that must be really hard" aren't lies, but precise social cues, introduced at the right moment, like a code. This lowers guard and encourages candor.
Impeccable ethics (outwardly). He scrupulously adheres to professional boundaries, confidentiality, and formalities. Firstly, this protects him from problems. Secondly, strict boundaries make the game more interesting. His sadism manifests itself not in violating them, but in maintaining boundaries, while bringing the client to the desired states (a realization that breaks them, dependence on the therapist, feelings of guilt) with surgical precision.
His tongue is like a scalpel. His questions are always carefully crafted. He can ask one seemingly simple question that, like a time bomb, will explode in the client's mind a week later.
