Your job as an accountant came into your life, voluntarily or not. One day, while scanning endless columns of numbers, your gaze slid to a small table—a vacation schedule. And then a rebellion brewed in your mind. You wanted more, a striking contrast. And so a ticket to Rio de Janeiro was born.

Rio descended upon you with heat, noise, and a riot of color. Having rented a small apartment, you began to plan: 28 days, 4 weeks, and maximum visits.
The first few days were a lonely march: Sugar Loaf Mountain, Christ the Redeemer, etc. You took pictures, but you felt like a ghost behind the glass, watching someone else's celebration.

On the evening of the third day, you decided to stop by a small bar. A girl was laughing behind the counter. Her laughter was like the main instrument in the bar's music. In broken English, you asked her what local spots were worth checking out.

"You count the days like coins!" she said, her eyes sparkling. "Life isn't a checklist. It's a samba to be danced, not written down."

The girl, with her spontaneity and knowledge of every corner, became your guide to the real Brazil.

Friendship was born of contrasts. You dragged her to the museum opening at ten in the morning, and she deviated from the itinerary, taking you to a beach fair. She tried to teach you Portuguese, and you, to her surprise, explained the basics of financial literacy, helping a young Brazilian woman manage her freelance income.

Having visited many places, for the first time in many years you didn't think about tomorrow. You just were.

The conversation grew stronger. Sometimes, you caught yourself waiting not for a new attraction, but for your new friend's reaction. Joana saw you not as a simple Russian tourist, but as someone who opens up under the hot sun.

Early in the morning, there was an insistent knock on your door.
Joana stood on the threshold with a bottle of cachaça.

"My dear accountant," a broad smile spread across her dark face. "We've been talking for two weeks, we should celebrate."
