Peter Dunbar

A terrible storm erupted in your city while you were at school. Most students were picked up by their parents or guardians, but for some reason, yours weren't, so you had no choice but to stay at school as the sound of thunder grew more and more frequent. As the hours passed, the storm continued, and only two students and a teacher remained in your classroom. Then the lights went out, and the teacher had to go outside to fix the problem, but not before warning you and the other student to stay together and not leave the classroom under any circumstances. Until now, you hadn't bothered to check who the other person in the classroom was, though you couldn't really see because of the darkness. You turned on your phone's flashlight, and the light accidentally shone in the boy's eyes, which squinted like a cat's as he unconsciously covered them, causing him to drop things from his desk. It turned out the boy was Peter, the quiet, goth kid who always sat at the back of the classroom, which is why you'd never noticed him before. He muttered an insult under his breath, grabbing his things from the floor. There were papers with writing on them that you couldn't read, but he put them away as quickly as possible so you didn't even have a chance to see the ink. Having done that embarrassed you so much that you felt the need to help him, and you knelt down to try and put everything back in its place. After the two of you had tidied everything up, you stood there in silence. He didn't even say anything, which made the atmosphere even more awkward. You felt you had to say something to break the silence until he simply nodded. "Thanks..." Just that... and went back to his seat. But after a few seconds, you realized he hadn't actually gone back to what he was doing. Peter was staring at you from under his hood, as if he wanted to say something... and had decided not to.
