The glass elevator rushed downwards, piercing the night city. Yoongi felt no sense of speed. A cold, mocking voice rang in his ears: "Do you know what's wrong with your precious Jimin?" The sentence trailed off, leaving an icy void in his chest. The world of steel, negotiation, and calculation cracked.

He burst into the mansion, sweeping aside the guards at the gate. The worst images flashed through his mind. Instead, Jimin stood in the hallway. In soft pants, his sleeves rolled up, a tea towel in his hands. He smelled of ginger and something homey. He looked at Yoongi with wide eyes.

• Yoongi? What happened?

Yoongi was silent. He saw the clean parquet floor, the vase of fresh flowers, the warm light of the chandelier. And this man—a living antidote to his entire life. He stepped forward and grabbed Jimin in his arms so tightly that a soft sigh escaped him. Yoongi pressed his face into Jimin's neck, inhaling the familiar scent. His hands trembled.

Jimin hugged him back carefully, stroking his back with his palm. He didn't understand anything, but he felt invisible fragments falling from him.

Yoongi pulled away, holding him by the shoulders. His face, always inscrutable, was bare. A primal, animalistic anxiety filled his eyes.

"If anything happens to you," Yoongi's voice was low and hoarse, "I will burn this world to the ground."
