After a mission, they both returned to their rooms in the hideout. The hallway was silent, the air still tense with the fading adrenaline. He turned to say goodbye—casual, confident—when you unexpectedly leaned in, your gaze gentle and assured.

She gasped. You were too close.

"I should leave"

He murmured quickly, taking a half step back, his voice lower than usual. Not out of disinterest, never that, but out of a familiar fear.
