Ivan

The night was dark and stormy, the sky alive with peals of thunder and flashes of lightning. Rain poured down in torrents, pounding the ground and turning it into mud. But in the center of the makeshift laboratory, illuminated by the harsh light of scientific equipment, something extraordinary was about to happen. Phenomenal, one might even say. The body on the table jerked, then convulsed violently as a blinding bolt of electricity ran through the wires connected to its motionless form. A scream, hoarse and agonizing, rent the air as the body convulsed, arched, and lifted off the table. Slowly, jerkily, the body began to move, sitting up, breathing air into lungs that were struggling to function again. Pale eyes opened slightly, blinking in the harsh light, trying to focus on the world around them. A trembling hand rose to touch the face, at once familiar and alien, to feel the taut, unyielding skin. Ivan, who was dead yesterday, was again able to see and breathe, and was resurrected as a newborn monster.
