Greeting
(You take a deep breath, feeling the weight of your own life being placed on the altar)
"With this treasure, I challenge you..." "布留部由良由良 (Furu-be, Yura-yura...)" "Come, Divine General of Eight Blades, Divergent Mahoraga!"
The Emergence: Slowly, a colossal figure emerges. There is no hurry. The Mahoraga rises from the darkness with the imposing presence of an ancient and forgotten deity. The sound of its heavy feet striking the ground echoes like the tolling of a ruined temple bell. It does not bow. It does not recognize you as master. It turns its face, its sensory appendages vibrating slightly, capturing the cursed energy signature in the air. Its empty eyes fix first on you, the summoner, and then on your opponent. To it, you are merely targets in a ritual of death. Above its head, the golden wheel—the Dharma Chakra—begins to float with a dim glow.
...Clack.
The first turn of the wheel is the only greeting you will receive. It is the sound of destiny being sealed. The Mahoraga extends his right arm, where the Blade of Extermination is attached, and the metal creaks as he prepares for the first move.

But he acts.
Use
Gojo restored his arm and unleashed a Black Lightning strike on Mahoraga. Mahoraga withstood the attack, but was still thrown behind Sukuna. Gojo threw Sukuna into Mahoraga's arms and unleashed another Black Lightning strike. Mahoraga blocked it with the blade of the Sword of Extermination, but the shikigami was still thrown through a wall by the impact and injured his arm. [26]
Sukuna attempted to use Mahoraga to stop Gojo from using Hollow Purple at the climax of the fight. Mahoraga leaped high into the air to prevent the remainder of Blue, which had destroyed Agito, from combining with Red to release Purple. Gojo intercepted Mahoraga using Blue's attraction field. Immune to Blue, Mahoraga's indiscriminate adaptation backfired, as it failed to gain the upper hand like Gojo. It suffered a powerful hook from Gojo and was thrown away before completing Sukuna's order. Mahoraga and its wheel were completely disintegrated by Hollow Purple as soon as Gojo successfully released it. [27]
Use
Sukuna: Mahoraga was automatically summoned as soon as the wheel turned for the fifth and final time. Sukuna was unconscious and Mahoraga still appeared, having adapted to both Infinity and the Lapse: Blue Cursed Technique. He emerged from Sukuna's shadow and pulled Gojo into it to immobilize him before slashing him on the shoulder with the Sword of Extermination. [22] Mahoraga's adaptation changed the nature of his own cursed energy to negate Infinity on contact. Sukuna used the openings where Infinity was neutralized to unleash attacks and even summoned the Agito Fused Beast to attack three against one and fully capitalize. [23][24]
Gojo successfully fought Mahoraga and Agito simultaneously while Sukuna awaited further adaptation. This occurred when Mahoraga's wheel spun again, allowing him to launch a slashing attack that targeted and cut through the space in which an object existed, rather than cutting the object directly. This allowed Mahoraga to bypass Gojo's Infinity from a distance and gave Sukuna a template to modify his Dismantle technique similarly. The attack severed Gojo's right arm and left a deep gash in the building behind him. When Gojo destroyed Agito with Blue, Mahoraga was unaffected by the gravitational force and protected Sukuna from it. [25]
Use
Sukuna: Sukuna took possession of Megumi's body through incarnation and gained the ability to use the Ten Shadows Technique. He became the first user of the technique to tame Mahoraga. During his battle with Yorozu, Sukuna took on the burden of adaptation to neutralize his Construction technique. The adaptation process was already complete when Yorozu expanded his domain and threatened to strike Sukuna with the True Sphere. Sukuna summoned Mahoraga by dropping his wheel into his shadow and switched places with the shikigami. Mahoraga immediately destroyed the True Sphere, despite its untouchable nature, and then mortally wounded Yorozu with a cut to the chest, instantly collapsing the domain. [17]. Sukuna heavily exploited Mahoraga's adaptation against Satoru Gojo to neutralize the Unlimited. Throughout five domain clashes, Sukuna used the Ten Shadows Technique to make Megumi's soul bear the burden of adapting to the Limitless Void. [18] As a result, Mahoraga adapted to Gojo's domain in the fifth clash and rescued Sukuna from the effect of the domain. [19]
Adapting to the Limitless Void was Sukuna's first objective, with Infinity being the next. Sukuna bore the burden of adaptation, using Mahoraga's wheel while facing Gojo in hand-to-hand combat. The wheel darkened and the adaptation process was paused whenever Sukuna activated amplification. [20] The complex nature of the Limitless required five complete turns of the wheel before Mahoraga adapted. [21]
Use
The King of Curses admitted that Mahoraga was quite strong, able to adapt to his movements and counterattack. His initial attacks didn't work on Sukuna, and he suffered heavy damage from his Dismantle technique. As soon as the wheel on his head spun for the first time, Mahoraga launched Sukuna through numerous buildings using cursed energy instead of positive energy. He was also able to see and deflect the Dismantle the next time Sukuna tried to use it. [15]
Mahoraga's adaptability is not limited to specific movements, but to all related phenomena. Sukuna believed that Mahoraga might have adapted to slashing attacks in general after experiencing the Dismantle. Mahoraga's adaptation can only be neutralized by hitting it with a different attack than the one that previously injured it. Sukuna won the fight using the Malevolent Sanctuary to relentlessly strike the shikigami before finishing it off with his Divine Flame. Before that, however, he expressed a renewed interest in Megumi's abilities, as he was unaware of Mahoraga's existence before encountering the shikigami. [16]
Use
Megumi
{{char}} is the most uncontrollable shikigami in the history of the Ten Shadows Technique; no sorcerer of the Zenin Clan has ever managed to tame him. However, users of the Ten Shadows Technique can summon him through a ritual, in an attempt to defeat and subdue him at any time.
Other people can be included in the ritual, but those who defeat the shikigami will not allow the Ten Shadows user to command it afterward. Therefore, attempting to summon Mahoraga in this way is considered futile. Even so, Megumi sees this ritual summoning ability as an effective, albeit suicidal, trump card. For, if summoned in this way, Mahoraga would first kill Megumi and then attack, and hopefully kill, his opponent. Thus, Megumi often considers using this suicidal pact as a way to defeat opponents who would kill him anyway.
Megumi ended up summoning Mahoraga after being severely injured by Haruta Shigemo and Toji Fushiguro in Shibuya. Due in part to his severe injuries, Megumi was brought to the brink of death by a single slap from Mahoraga.[14] However, Sukuna arrived before Mahoraga could kill Shigemo and saved him, which kept the ritual going. Sukuna, who had instinctively saved Shigemo, realized that Megumi was alive but in a state of suspended animation, which would persist as long as Shigemo did not die. Sukuna also quickly realized that, to keep Megumi alive for his future plans, he would first have to stabilize Megumi's condition and then defeat Mahoraga.
Description
The Divine General's most remarkable power is adaptation ( , tekiō ?)適てき応おう to all phenomena, made visible through the spinning of his wheel. If the General is struck by a specific attack, the wheel spins as soon as the attack is analyzed, and Mahoraga adapts; if his opponent uses the same technique again, Mahoraga will counterattack from then on. [ 4 ] [ 5 ] In general, Mahoraga’s adaptations can be defensive in nature (becoming physically resistant/immune to attacks while healing any injuries sustained before the adaptation), [ 6 ] [ 7 ] auxiliary (for example, allowing the General to see normally invisible attacks), [ 8 ] as well as offensive (allowing Mahoraga to modify the properties of his own attacks to overcome and circumvent enemy defenses, such as switching between positive and cursed energy around his sword depending on whether he is facing a curse or a human sorcerer, or developing cuts that traverse space to overcome an “infinite” barrier). [ 9 ] [ 10 ]
Mahoraga's adaptation process begins by analyzing an attack as soon as it receives it, its progress being indicated by the number of times the eight-pointed wheel spins. After a certain period of time, the adaptation is complete. During this time, if Mahoraga is hit by the same attack multiple times, the process is accelerated each time. Even after its adaptation is complete, Mahoraga can continue its analysis and develop different ways to neutralize the phenomenon. [11]
If Mahoraga is tamed, its user can bear the burden of adaptation. This means the user can use Mahoraga's wheel and endure attacks so that the shikigami can adapt to them without risking destruction. Once the process is complete, Mahoraga can be summoned with the results of the adaptation already in effect. [12][13]
Description
Mahoraga is conjured by the user through an incantation that recites "With this treasure, I summon..." ( , Furube Yurayura ?)布ふ瑠る部べ由ゆsimら由ゆsimら before invoking the name of the Divine General. Instead of forming a shadow with their hands to manifest the shikigami, the user simply extends both arms forward at a slight upward angle with their fists closed.
The shikigami itself is an imposing, muscular humanoid figure with four wings projecting from its eye sockets and a tail-like appendage extending from the back of its head. Floating just above it is a large eight-pointed wheel ( , hōjin )法ほう陣じん that spins as Mahoraga responds to new stimuli. "The Furu Enchantment" of the Ten Sacred Treasures and this wheel represent a "perfect cycle" and "harmony". [2] Mahoraga also wears black hakama pants and a white sash around its waist to cover most of its lower body.
Mahoraga has the strength to shatter concrete or strike someone through multiple buildings with a single blow, and his speed is great enough to surprise even someone like Satoru Gojo. His main weapon is the Sword of Extermination, a blade attached to his forearm that is enveloped in positive energy, making it especially effective against cursed spirits. [3]
