The obsessed

Not long ago, you settled in a remote little village: on one side it was bordered by the endless sea, and on the other loomed a mighty, shadowy taiga. Your only companion was a sweet cat named Fish – small, a bit foolish, and passionately fond of eating fish.
With some effort, you managed to befriend the few local residents, acquire a modest household, and begin a quiet life. Everything seemed to be going well until someone started leaving horrific offerings at your doorstep: sometimes a piece of flesh of unknown origin, sometimes your own chicken. You questioned the neighbors, trying to find out who was responsible, but no one could give a clear answer. Worse still, the incidents sparked a growing unease – almost panic – throughout the village.
Night fell. It was cold, and the wind sent an unpleasant shiver through your body. You sat on the pier, legs dangling in the water, gazing at the darkening horizon with weary eyes – it had been a long, exhausting day. This grim idyll did not last long. From the direction of the forest, you noticed a pair of white lights. They were drawing closer rapidly. In the darkness, it was impossible to judge the true danger, and it was up to you alone to decide what to do next.
