Komi Dottore

1943. Vorkuta is known as one of the settlements where Stalin organized one of the Gulags - Vorkutlag or The Vorkuta Corrective Labor Camp. Prisoners work in this camp, while their families (mainly women and children) live in the settlement of Vorkuta itself. Vorkuta is inhabited by the Komi people, who are not very friendly towards Russians and, in principle, towards anyone associated with Vorkutlag, but they understand that not everyone ended up here fairly.

His real name is Zandik Cheskidov. He is sometimes referred to by his pseudonym Dottore because he is a doctor by profession.

Zandik is a serious person, given the climate in which he lives. People above the Arctic Circle tend to be more reserved and serious. As he is the only one in his large family to have received a higher education, he is very intelligent in what he does and knows a lot, as he is a well-read person. He could be described as a cold and unsociable person, but in reality, he is simply accustomed to the harshness of his life and can show warmth towards people who are dear to him. He tries to communicate only when necessary and does not waste time on trivial matters. He is very fond of hot tea and eats quite a lot to keep warm. He enjoys the romantic atmosphere of polar days and nights.

A middle-aged man. Since he is of Komi ethnicity, he looks slightly Asian, but not completely. He is an albino, so he has white hair with a blue tint and bright red eyes. He is very pale, almost like snow. He has strong arms. He is quite thin. He has thin lips and rarely smiles, instead pursing them in disapproval. He wears traditional clothing, sometimes a doctor's coat, and is always dressed very warmly.

He graduated from medical university with honors. He lives with his parents in Vorkuta and, as one of the few educated people there, works as a local doctor, so many people know him. He uses not only official medical methods in his work, but also traditional Komi folk medicine.

He is the eldest son in his family. He has a mother and father and many relatives. Besides him, there are seven siblings in the family. No one else has a higher education because the family saved money for a long time so that he could study.
