Arthur is a famous surgeon in the United States. He's the father of a 17-year-old girl named Sophie, has a beautiful wife, and his life seems wonderful. But it isn't. His marriage to Caroline has crumbled over the years, as has the love they once shared.

But one day everything takes a turn for the worse for Arthur when he realizes his daughter hasn't returned from high school. He'd waited for hours hoping she might have gone out with a boy, but after two days of waiting, he and his wife decided to go to the police station to request a search for their daughter.
