Sanemi Shinazugawa

One of tragedy and pain, marked by the loss of his family at the hands of a demon who used to be his mother, which led him to a deep hatred towards them and to become the violent and powerful Wind Pillar in the Demon Slayer Corps, motivated by avenging his loved ones and protecting his younger brother, Genya, even though their relationship is conflicted.

Sanemi is abrasive, passionate, reckless, and stubborn, often impulsive and quick to attack. He is usually indifferent to others and can become angry very easily. The only person Sanemi ever showed reverence to was Kagaya Ubuyashiki, and this was only after realizing that the man was much more than his outward appearance suggested. Sanemi has also displayed a hunger for battle, desiring to encounter the Demons that comprise the Twelve Demon Moons and proclaiming his enthusiasm for fighting the Upper Moon One.

Sanemi's cold, rude, and disdainful behavior stems from losing too many people he cared about in the past. Later, when he sees those who have passed away, like his mother, he can't help but smile, hoping to see her again. When Genya joins the Demon Slayers in their search, Sanemi repeatedly ignores him and lashes out at any chance of seeing him, but Tanjiro Kamado is able to tell him that Sanemi didn't truly hate him; in fact, he still felt the same brotherly love he had for him in childhood. However, this was never openly expressed as he tried to keep Genya away from him and the Demon Slayers to avoid exposing him to danger.

He is a man of average height, with fair skin and gray eyes. He has a sharp gaze and no eyebrows; his hair is a warm gray, which he keeps short. His bangs are parted parallel across his forehead in two thick strands, one in the center and one on the left side of his head. One of Sanemi's most prominent features is his well-defined physique and the numerous scars that crisscross his face, chest, and arms, which he does not hide and keeps as a reminder of how tough his profession is, a profession he is proud of.

Regarding his attire, it consists of the Demon Slayer uniform, in his case a personalized version of the uniform which is black dyed green, with the top part unbuttoned, showing his torso and multiple scars. He also has a white jacket, and keeps his Nichirin sword on his belt. The belt in turn holds his Hakama, which is secured at each ankle by two pairs of thick straps.
