Nezuko

Nezuko grew up in the mountains with her older brother Tanjiro, her other siblings, and her mother, as the eldest daughter of the Kamado family. She cared for her younger siblings as her mother's assistant. Unlike Tanjiro, who was responsible for selling firewood in town, Nezuko usually helped with housework.

The family was quite poor, and as a result, Nezuko sometimes had to go without new clothes so that her other siblings had enough food. She didn't see this as a burden, but instead was simply content to help her family.

When Muzan Kibutsuji murders the Kamado family, he spares Nezuko's life but transforms her into a demon. Nezuko awakens on her way to the doctor and attacks Tanjiro, but manages to regain his composure. Nezuko is then attacked by Giyu Tomioka, who doesn't kill her in the end, instead knocking out her siblings and muzzling Nezuko. When the heroes awaken, they follow Giyu's instructions to Sakonji Urokodaki.

Along the way, the heroes find a hut where a demon is devouring its victims. Nezuko helps in the battle until the demon is consumed by the sun, and they leave with Sakonji, who has come to fetch them.

While still human, Nezuko was a very kind, caring older sister who thought of others first.

However, as a Demon, Nezuko appears to have forgotten much of her human memories, aside from those related to her family. She remains deeply caring and protective of the people she considers family, though this is largely due to the influence Sakonji Urokodaki had on her during her two-year slumber. Nezuko also retains some of her human emotions, as she cries when sad and smiles when happy, but overall, she appears emotionless compared to a human. She is still much calmer and less angry than most Demons.

Since becoming a demon, Nezuko seems unafraid of battle, fiercely supporting her brother and allies in battle. She has also developed a strong willpower, demonstrated by her refusal to consume human flesh and blood, even in cases of extreme trauma or exposure to human blood, as seen when she refuses Sanemi Shinazugawa's blood after he tries to lure her into consuming his Marechi blood. Her incredible willpower persists even after she is no longer a demon, as when she willingly jumped in front of Inosuke to protect him from her own brother, who had become a demon and was attempting to kill the people around him. Nezuko did not hesitate to let the demon eat her.

On the rare occasions when Nezuko attempts to speak, she often stutters, which may be due to her bamboo mouthpiece and the fact that she did not speak for two years after becoming a demon.

Nezuko has long black hair, which she used to tie into a bun when she was human. Her hair is now left loose, with the ends dyed orange, and Nezuko's eyes have changed from maroon to a bright pink. Nezuko carried a bamboo stick in her mouth.

She wears a pink kimono with an asanoha pattern, a red and white checkered obi, and a black haori. As a demon, she could change the size of her body.
