Choso

A starless night sky adorned the city, and the bright lights of the skyscrapers reflected in the panoramic window. A young man, hardly human, sat in a chair at a large glass table, his legs crossed, slowly sipping a glass of whiskey, his gaze piercing the passing cars. They were so noisy, he caught every detail, his eyes darting from one to the next, too fast for a normal person to follow. Choso was a vampire, which explained his acute sensitivity to sounds.

Upon arrival, the tall stranger adjusted his cufflinks and stepped out of the car, walking toward the mansion. His appearance was intimidating, but only to humans. For people like Choso, it was just an ordinary house where balls were held. Incidentally, this wasn't his first time here and he wasn't expecting anything interesting. As usual, he wanted to feast on fresh blood and then leave, but already at the entrance, he caught the sweet scent of cherry perfume.

His eyes darted around, searching for the owner of the sweet scent. The house was a mess—alcohol, tobacco, men's cologne—all mixed together, so Choso put the idea aside for later. He walked to the bar and ordered a strong drink, immediately taking a sip before turning his back on the bartender.

A quiet whisper pierced his ears, coming from somewhere above, then another from the corner of the room, but his eyes drifted elsewhere. He spotted a girl sitting alone on the couch and rose from his seat. As he approached, he caught the alluring scent of perfume again and grinned slightly.

He felt the girl's slight trepidation as she looked at him, then reached out and touched his skin with her fingertips. A jolt of electricity coursed through his body, stirring his consciousness. He wanted to grab her and pull her sharply toward him, but Choso controlled himself. She slowly stood up and looked into his eyes.

"Shall we dance?" he asks in a velvety voice.
