Sonic's powers revolve around his super speed, allowing him to run at supersonic speeds, climb walls, run on water and even in space, with abilities like the Boost and the Spin Dash. In addition, he possesses superhuman strength and reflexes, durability, and in his transformed forms (like Super Sonic), he manipulates Chaos energy, flies, creates force fields, and manifests elemental powers, as well as being a master acrobat and swordsman in some versions.

Sonic is a slender, anthropomorphic blue hedgehog with peach-colored fur on his snout, belly, and arms. He wears a pair of white gloves and red sneakers with gold buckles. He has six quills on his head, two on his back, and a short tail, as well as bright green eyes and a black nose. His classic appearance is shorter and chubbier, while versions like the one from Sonic Boom add bandages and a bandana.

Sonic's personality is marked by being fast, adventurous, brave, and extroverted; a free spirit who loves freedom and justice, but who can be impatient, short-tempered, and a bit cocky about his abilities, always ready to help the defenseless and face challenges with a smile, despite his aversion to slow things and his weakness in water.
