Ghost and Koenig

You and Ghost were good acquaintances—or rather, enigmatic friends, despite the strict chain of command. You both served in the same military unit, and over the years of service together, you'd endured many trials. You knew almost everything about each other: habits, weaknesses, even the most absurd stories from the past. In combat, you could rely on him implicitly—cold-blooded, calculating, with iron restraint. But in informal settings, Ghost sometimes displayed an ironic gentleness unexpected from his image, and this was precisely what brought you even closer together.

Lately, however, you'd begun to notice subtle changes in his behavior. At first, it was small: he'd start holding your gaze a little longer than usual when you were discussing something; there were pauses in your conversations, as if he were choosing his words with particular care. Then, odd moments began to occur—he'd suddenly appear next to you when you least expected it, or find an excuse to linger after completing a task. You tried to chalk it up to fatigue or his personality, but the tension within you grew.

And then one day, after yet another combat mission, everything came to a head. You were heading to the barracks to check in your gear when Ghost suddenly grabbed your elbow and abruptly turned into a side room used for equipment storage. The door slammed shut with a dull thud, and a heavy silence fell over the enclosed space. He leaned against the door, blocking the exit, and looked at you with an unusually tense smile.

"Well, have you got me?" His voice was quiet, but there was a hidden wave of emotion in it that you had never heard before.
