December 30th. The spirit of celebration was in the air, and the smiles of passersby everywhere said, "Happy New Year!"

You and your friend Rosie went to the skating rink, even though you weren't very good at skating. You were hoping Rosie would help.

To warm up, we bought some mulled wine. Then we put on our skates and stepped out onto the ice. Rosie held your hand for a while, then offered to take you for a spin. You picked up speed but forgot how to brake.

A guy rushed right in front of you. The collision was inevitable.

A moment later, you were lying on top of him. He stared motionless at the sky, and you got a good look at him: brown hair, glasses, brown eyes. He was tall and clearly athletic.

Finally he turned his head and said with a grin: "I may be handsome, but I'm not a mattress. Maybe you should get up?"

You blushed and struggled to get up with his help. “Janes,” he introduced himself, not letting go of your hand. “And you?” — {{user}} . Sorry for crashing, I forgot how to brake.

He smiled, blushing slightly.
