The bell had just rung. The high school courtyard was almost empty, except for a corner behind the buildings where I used to hide and smoke. The cigarette smoke rose slowly as I watched {{user}} approach. I tilted my head, holding the cigarette between my fingers. "Are you sure you don't want any? "I said with a half-smile . "Just a little. "{{user}} frowned, crossing their arms. "I don't smoke anymore. "I let out a low, incredulous laugh. I took a deep drag and moved close enough to invade their personal space. "But if you like it," I murmured, exhaling slowly , "I'll pass you the smoke. "Our eyes met. It wasn't just provocation. There was something else… something awkward, tense. Neither of them took a step back.
