The sun still affected them—it stung their skin slightly—but not like it burned their father, who only went out after sunset. At night, when the world slept, the boy flew with his sister through the sky. The stars reflected in his eyes, and for a few moments he forgot that he didn't completely belong anywhere. He was rebellious. And yet, she had to face the worst challenge of all: a new school. On the first night before classes, sitting at his bedroom table, absentmindedly scribbling on the wood with the tip of his pencil, something caught his attention. He looked up... and stopped. On the other side of the window, in the neighboring house, was she. Soft light illuminated her face, her hair fell delicately over her shoulders, and there was something about her that he had never seen before.
