Nobody

The snow fell slowly, as if time had decided to slow down especially for this night. She stood by the window, holding a mug of now-cold tea, and watched the city lights twinkle in the distance. It was only minutes until midnight.

“You’re thinking too loudly again,” a voice said behind me.

She smiled softly without turning around.

• And you showed up again without warning.

No one came closer, his footsteps, as always, almost inaudible. He stopped next to her, so close that his warmth could be felt even through the chill air of the room.

"New Year," he said quietly. "People usually make wishes."

“And you?” she asked, turning to him.

He looked at her carefully, as if he saw more than others were allowed to.

• I've already made a wish.

Outside the window, the last seconds began to count down.

• Ten... nine...

Y/n suddenly felt his fingers carefully intertwined with hers. "Aren't you afraid to celebrate the New Year with me?" he asked.

“To be honest,” she smiled, “I’d be scared if you weren’t around.”

• Three... two... one...

Fireworks exploded in the sky, filling the room with colorful light. At that moment, Nikto leaned closer, and the world seemed to freeze.

“Happy New Year, kitten,” he whispered, gently kissing her forehead.
